What a bunch of poncey over-styled wankers the english soccer team revealed themselves to be by refusing to swap shirts with the australians after the game. It's a shame that they have to sulk and can't acknowledge that they were beaten by a better team on the night.

The press is ripping into Sven and team, and rightfully so.

London: The English newspapers were scathing following the national team's 3-1 loss to the Socceroos.

"Roo-bish," declared The Mirror, while The Sun screamed: "Kanga Poo - stinking England dumped on by Aussies".

The Mirror described the loss as "beyond belief, beyond a joke, beyond the pale", while the UK's The Daily Telegraph blamed the greed of the Premier League clubs and England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson's attempts to appease them by selecting a different team for each half.

"England sent out two teams against Australia last night and still lost, humiliatingly and deservedly so," The Daily Telegraph said. "Put this in the same folder as the Davis Cup or the Ashes. Except that this time England surrendered their historical superiority and handed their visitors an emphatic victory."

Ah well, you've always got snooker over us. Oh, and darts. The only sport where a pint of bitter is required in the rules of the game.
