The email that Ross saw in his computer on that day in OKC had to do with the Tom situation

The whole matter was becoming far more serious than Ross could have ever imagined.

According to that e-mail, Tom had assigned some of the work regarding the matter which Tom was suing Ross on, to other lawyers in the firm in other cities.

Supposedly, at least several lawyers were put on suspension or had been fired from the firm, and were joining Tom, in what seemed to quickly becoming a class action like lawsuit against Ross, and of course, Alan Hell

Ross dialed Alan Hell, who answered and sounded hassled.

"I know that you're probably in OKC, and what you're probably calling about. I'm just about to enter a meeting with a mediator about a case I'm involved in. I cant talk now, and I know you're busy for a few days. Please just email me whatever you were sent , I will look it over, and we will look at it, discuss it, and meet when you get back to New York either later this week, or early next week. This is not an immediate emergency. I'm doing my work as usual, and you please go on about your work about and as usual" Alan said.

"Okay, thanks for the support, take care, and I will contact you when I get back to New York, by Friday at the latest" Ross said.

"You're welcome, you take care too" Alan said, as the men hung up.

Ross emailed the email he had been sent to Alan Hell, Ross clicked off his email, and went back to work as he normally would. Ross had an OKC trip with investors to do, and he did not want to consume his mind with something that could be counterproductive to his day to day work.

Ross walked back into the office with Fritz and Steve.

"Any problem, partner?" Fritz asked.

"Something regarding the situation with Tom from Philadelphia. I just spoke to Alan Hell. Alan was busy , and said he and I will talk about it when I get home. In the meantime, I just have to do what we have to on this trip. So what do we have to do?" Ross asked, changing the subject to the important immediate matter at hand.

Fritz sighed. "Investor analysis today. We will just go out to dinner tonight ourselves. Tomorrow we will go to the fields and meet with about 100 people. A number will be in person and a number by Zoom. Right now we are thinking three shows so you can be out of here by Thursday and sleep over three nights. Does that sound reasonable?" Fritz asked.

"More than reasonable" Ross said.

That day, Ross , Fritz and Steve combed over potential investors. Afterward they went out to an early dinner, and Ross went back to the hotel. Ross decided not to concern Kayley until Ross got home and could speak to Alan Hell and the matter could be figured out. He did not want to worry her unjustifiably

Ross called Kayley when he was at the hotel after dinner. "So how was energy boy';s day?"

"Fine, just investor analysis. Three shows, one each day tomorrow through Thursday. I will be home not too late Thursday, and wont go in on Friday, fair?" Ross asked.

"Of course, I love you Energy Boy" Kayley said.,

"I love you too, teacher" Ross said.

The next morning, Ross, Fritz, and Steve had an early breakfast, and drove to the field. They met with what turned out to be about eighty to ninety investors for a DVD presentation of the company, and the foreman showing the potential people the oil fields. After that forty people committed to sign, with twenty taking papers saying "Maybe" and the rest no.

On the way back to OKC Fritz said.

"I'm going to try to squeeze in two shows tomorrow so you can get out of here tomorrow night or early Thursday. I can see the look on your face Ross C. I know that something is wrong, even if you dont want to spill it" Fritz said calmly and supportively. .

Ross sighed. "Yes. When I got here the other day, I opened my computer and saw that this lawsuit is turning into a real mess like a class action because supposedly Tom assigned some of the things he is claiming against me, he also assigned to other lawyers. Supposedly some of them had backlash too, and from what I read, although Alan Hell has to confirm it, Tom wants to turn this mess into a class action against not only Alan's firm but also against me. I called Alan, told him about it, sent Alan the information, Alan said he will look at it, and he and I will talk when I get home. I dont like any of it, but I know that I have to focus on our day to day work here, and I will deal with it when I get home to New York" Ross said, honestly and as calmly as he could.

Fritz also sighed. "I'm sorry to hear that, my friend. As you said, just let Alan take the information, read it, and let him advise you. Whatever he has to do to Tom and whoever else might sue you, Alan will handle it. In the meantime, please just focus on being here, and what we have to do" Fritz advised.

"Of course I will, my partner and best friend" Ross said.

Ross went back to the hotel that night, and did not sleep well. On Wednesday, the men decided to do one show of about 75 people, and save the other one for another time, so Ross could go home that night. By the time he came back again, the mess with Tom would be in Alan Hell';s hands, and would be in the process of being sorted out.

"One show today, Ross C, Let;s just do it., We will take you to the airport. You just go home as early as you can get a flight, and as far as the other show, we can do it the next time you come here in a few weeks, or maybe even with you at your office or home in New York. I know that you must have a lot of things on your mind" Fritz said.

Ross smiled. "Thanks for understanding, buddy"

That day, they did a show for one hundred people, with sixty signing. Considering the mess that Ross was involved with, it was not bad.

With all work finished, Ross called Kayley on his way to the airport

"I'm coming home tonight. Fritz and Steve must have another meeting on another project that I am not involved in, so due to that, I'm going to get out of here. I will be in JFK at midnight, and home by one" Ross said.

"Okay, safe flying" Kayley said.

Ross got to the airport, got on the plane, went to DFW, changed, to JFK, and then in an Uber home.

Ross was very, very troubled. Ross did not know whether he feared a long drawn out battle that would distract him, or, as someone Ross knew said, and Alan Hell himself might have said, the Tim Tazzio situation in the past, was making Ross actually paranoid, and to blow this situation up in Ross's head more than he needed to.

When Ross got to the front desk of the apartment building, he was handed yet another envelope.

Not surprisingly, it was another solo lawsuit from one lawyer in Tom's firrm.

What had not long before seemed like a situation that Ross was not even involved in, was quickly becoming a house of cards that was collapsing around him rapidly.

Ross would FEDEX the papers to Alan Hell in the morning.

Ross came upstairs, put his briefcase in his den, kissed Kayley hello, undressed, and went to sleep.

"That was fast" Kayley remarked, putting her arms around Ross as he got into bed.

"I told you, Fritz and Steve had to push up an important meeting on a matter I'm not involved with. I figured I should come home, and be here with you, instead of there doing nothing." Ross said

"I'm glad you're home" Kayley said, kissing Ross on the side of the lips.

Kayley quickly fell back to sleep with her arms around Ross.

Ross, unfortunately, could not sleep even though he had taken his calming and sleep meds.

In spite of the good fortune and trip to OKC, it was possible that a very, very serious situation was developing regarding Tom,. Alan Hell's firm, and Ross being involved, to what extent neither Ross, or even Alan Hell were unsure.

How would this situation continue to unfold?

That would all be seen. .

It is amusing that Ross calls at least two different people his best friend. 😛

I am not surprised that Ross couldn't sleep. Under similar circumstances, I would lie awake both worrying and plotting revenge.

You probably mean that Ross calls Timothy Ross's "Best friend"

Yet as we know, Fritz is much easier to deal with than Timothy.

Knowing Ross and his personality, he might well be plotting revenge. We will see.

More to come in the next day or two, depending.
