I should start from the beginning. The year is 1880,I was a student of the occult,my interest in preserving or more accurately extending my own life span lead me to the ruins of The Darkmore House. It was believed that Angus Darkmore had done so many unspeakably evil things in this life that hell itself would not have him. There were those in town who said that Angus was not only a warlock but also because of the blood thristiness of his deeds he was a vampire.I ,as a student of the occult, wanted to push beyond the boundries of the known occult sciences into the unknown, the fact was I wanted to know the truth about Angus. The story at the time was that Angus had taken one of his followers as his bride,a woman, who like him,had celebrated black mass, and consumed human blood. As I stood at the massive gates of The Darkmore Estate I had no idea what to expect.I knew of the family crypt on the ground,I reasoned that would be the best place start,if Angus and his bride were infact vampires their resting place would be in the crypt. The Estate was in shambles, the caretaker of the Darkmore Estate had died 12 years earlier, although the caretaker wasn't buried the crypt itself he was buried in a separate vault reserved for servants of The Darkmore family.I made my way through the rusted gates of the family crypt, inching my way along the moss covered walls until I reach the burial chamber. The stone coffins resting on the marble floor looking as though they were meant to withstand time itself. The stained glass windows filtering the rays of the afternoon sun.The names on the coffins were Angus and Elizabeth, his bride.I decided I would open the coffins to see if the legends were true.I had to know if Angus really was a vampire.I pushed back the marble slab that served as a lid for the coffin,it seemed as if it took hours to push the lid off but finally it slid off as it crashed to the floor. If angus had ever been a vampire he was now just a pile of bones.I looked at the windows to see daylight was fading,it would soon be dusk, then darkness.I lit my torch and placed in the bracket in the wall. As I walk toward Elizabeth's coffin the lid began to open,in the time it took me to go for my bag and come back the coffin was completely opened and completely empty.I began to have second thoughts about the occult and even wondered if maybe I should have listened to the legends and stories concerning what I would come to know as The Darkmore Curse.I hurried to gather up my things and to leave the crypt,I reached the gates of The Estate and headed home.I was a few blocks from home when my friend Morton called to me from across the street,he was inviting me to have a drink with him. * Morton was a very nice person with a bit of a drinking problem,on top of which he didn't like to drink alone,he was usually in the company of one of the local streetwalkers. After I left Morton to his drunkened state and his streetwalker friends I thought I would take the shortcut through the alley,It was the quickest route home.I was about halfway down the alley way when I heard someone behind me.I turned around and there was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen standing there, she spoke no words but motioned for me to come to her.As she look into my eyes I felt helpless, her eyes were red,as red as the fires of hell.I could not move as I felt her icy kiss on my cheek,I then felt her touch against my throat,I was unable to make a sound and after a few second everything went black.I later woke in the Darkmore crypt,Elizabeth had brought me back to the crypt,I was to be hers for eternity. In all the time that I had studied the occult I never honestly believed that vampires were real, yet here was Lady Darkmore,a woman kept alive on the blood of others.I knew I was going to die,a living death,a curse that would cause me to feed on other human. The thought of taking the blood of other sickened me but I was no longer human.
**********************************Chapter 2
The night came soon enough and I would feed this night.By the time I rose from the coffin Elizabeth was already gone.I put a hand to my throat and felt no marks even though there was blood in the coffin the wounds from the night before were healed. As I left the crypt I felt what I would come to know as " The Hunger" more accurately the thrist for human blood.I would have to feed and then I would move my coffin. An abandoned cemetery was near what was my home at the far end of town,I would seek refuge there.I started to think,if I were going to take the life of someone,it should be someone who will not be missed, atleast no for some time. The streetwalkers were always in bad areas at night,it would be easy to take one of them,as long as I wasn't seen by anyone else.I stood in the shadows and watched,I set my sights on a woman known only as"Maggie".She was very plain looking, just another face in the crowd.I waited until she was alone then approached her and offered her money.I promised her a night she would never forget, little did she know.I blindfolded her and took her by the hand,I lead her to The Darkmore Estate. The torchs burned brightly Inside The Darkmore crypt,I offer her wine as much wine as she could drink, she told me,the wine warmed her blood. She finished the last bottle and was falling asleepon the marble steps,it was then that I bared my fangs and bit into her throat, she made no sound except a soft gurgling sound, probably her blood going back into her windpipe, her body thrashed for several minutes then nothing.I wasn't sure if she would rise as the living dead but I was taking no chances I pulled a stake from the bag I had from the night before and plunged it into her chest.I would have done the same to Elizabeth but her coffin was no longer anywhere in the crypt. It seemed that one of my new found powers was the ability to move quickly,it seemed that all I did was to think about the old cemetery and I was there.I thought no one ever comes around here and my coffin would be safe. The dawn was coming and I needed the safety of my coffin and as I closed the lid I thought to myself,"Maggie was right, the wine did warm her blood".
