After the 'drunken bear' incident from about a month ago (I'm still shaking my head over that one) I felt a decided need to put something together that was darker, moodier, harsher and it's about time if I do say so myself.

All-in-all, I don't think it turned out too badly. Enjoy!

Part Deux

And even though she's never going to read this, Happy Birthday Mom. You're the greatest!

That's some super-effective non-verbal storytelling: moody, stark, subjective, and a bit scary! The gray tones are varied and rich; great use of light and shadow (ie. page 6, panel 4 in which the eyes receive the focus); the sparing use of color is startling against this background... the touches of red really blaze! A fascinating, most successful experiment in style! I applaud the effort, Snail Shell!

Impressive Work!
Sequential art without the use of words
Keep the good work coming

"Excellent!"- Mr. Burns *twiddles fingertips*

I like the moodiness of these pictures. I think it accurately portrays, in a sort of dimension of the mind way, the mind of Raven, the mind we really never see. The twist at the end with Beast Boy is a nice touch. Good job. You make me want to draw that Titan art I postponed...

It's really amazing how you can convey so much in a series of pictures without any speech or word bubbles. The grays in the picture help capture the mood and feel of the scene too. I like it.

Lets see. I love Teen Titans, I love raven, I love Snail shell. So what does this equal?

*kisses Snail on the cheek*

Brilliant! 😀😀😀

That was amazing. The sequential work/storytelling was a stroke of genius! Once again, very impressed! ^^ Keep it up snail!

i really like it! the only color is her eyes, and right before she's tortured, you zoom in on her worried eyes, brilliant.

Nice work
Not so uptodate with all the super heroes over here
But still very nice

That was awesome! It really is true just how little of what we take in from a story is written, as nothing is lost even though this is the cartoon equivalent of a silent movie.

I dunno what you got against the drunken "Gummi Bear" incident though...

No, YOU'RE THE GREATEST! 😀

Wow, you just made my day; amazing work! 😉

Very, very nice! Very good use of shading during the 'dream' sequence! Plus, your artwork on the whole is very cute.

Dude, I got a kiss from lonelykimiko! 😍 😱

Many thanks to many kind words. I was a little concerned about the respose this would get because of all the comments about the spot-on dialogue I usually put into my TT comics. I'm glad everyone was so happy with it.

koopacooper: I don't actually have anything against the Gummi Bear pic. I usually have my limits as to how cute I go. It was a little too sweet. This comic was me getting the other end of the spectrum out of my system.

Cheers everybody!

So now you've done ultra-cute, followed by this very dark tickling piece, where to next Snail Shell?

Next? I never think that far ahead. 🙂 I'm going to start knocking some requests off of my To Do List I think. Said requests include but are not limited to: Fergie (Black eyed peas), Totally Spies, Street Fighter and Cool World's Holly Would. I've also got some ground-level ideas for another TT comic (with Raven FINALLY getting the evening off from the 'lee role).

So to answer your question, not sure yet. I do what I can. 😱

Cheers!

hey---absolutely LOVED it---Ray is gonna kiiiiiiiiiiiiilllll BB......;-) (I'm a huge TT fan!)

You need to start coloring these on photoshop.
Colored pencils just don't cut it.

Let me show you an example.

Real quicky here, but you get the idea.
Obviously using photoshop makes it fit the Toon Tit... I'm sorry, Teen Titans style better.

Oh, and also work on your feet.
Compared to the rest of the body, they come off as below average.

Many thanks to everyone who replied!

Mr. Roboto: Criticism accepted, however I'm not going to be switching to Photoshop anytime soon for a couple of reasons. First, I would have no idea where to start the colouring process using a paint program of any kind. In times of confusion, go with what you know. 🙂
Mostly however, I draw as my outlet. While a paint program may provide more consistant colouring than what I can do with my own two hands, drawing and colouring lets me be creative using the medium of my choice. While the computer may provide what is closer the style that suits the Teen Titans, it's not the style that suits me. Strictly my opinion, but colouring my pics by hand just seems more human. If colouring by hand doesn't cut it and makes me a B-level artist, I guess I'm a B-level artist.

Anywho, as stated earlier, criticism accepted on the foot thing. Keep contributing to Tickletheatre!

Hey snail, I wanted to ask when I saw your first strip, would it be ok for me to give a go at colouring some of your stuff? I kinda started on my machine is all...

Sure. Go right ahead. I don't mind if anyone colours my stuff for whatever reason as long as I still get credit for my work if it ends up anywhere else.

Cheers!
