Database problems

i come to the technical assistance forum from time to time to learn how to trouble-shoot issues on my own, in case one of the problems reported here happen to me. that being said, here's what i have been running into:

twice today, and a few times during the weekend, i get hit with a database error from VBulletin. to be sure it isn't a problem on my end, i emptied out my cookies and cache, but i have still gotten it. has anyone else reported a similar issue? is the forum being attacked again, or is this an isolated issue?

The server has been experiencing spikes in usage that overwhelm it of late. When that happens it goes, as BigJim might say, "tits up" and coughs up database errors and generally behaves in a non-responsive manner. Eventually the Jeffman or the server itself causes a restart of services to occur and everything gets back to normal. We know the problem is there and are investigating solutions. It may be a while before a solution can fully be implemented but rest assured that one will be eventually. 🙂
