"I'm Rick James! Darkness! Darkness, everyone! Darkness is spreading!"

what does everyone think of the dave chapelle show? i heard alot of people love it, what do yall think?

I personally feel Paul Mooney, redd fox, richard pryor and eddie murphy(raw) were better comedians. Chapelle was good in his first season but he's too reliant on his one liners thats made him famous. All Chapelle does now is find something he can quote and use it so much so people can buy it.

well, yeah, he definitely doesn't hold a light to comic legends like those, but, he's got pretty good skits, too.

Hell Yes

I've been a Chapelle fan since he broke onto the comedy scene in the early 90s. I've seen him numerous times and yes his comedy isn't for everyone and niether is his show but for my money he is one of the top 3 comedians working today and I think he will go down as one of the best comedians of all time if he doesn't get burned out, which kind of seems to be the case.

His show, which was the original question, I think is hilarious (like Nick Cannon). Most people I know enjoy it.

I have never seen his show (no cable here 🙁 ), but I have always enjoyed his guest appearances on other shows like Conan O'Brien.

I loved chapelle back when he was doing stand up too Jrock. I gained even more respect for the guy after I read the recent interview he did from South Africa. As far as him being a one-liner guy, I would have to disagree. Chapelle is ingenious in his racial comedy. Stuff like his "black bush" skit and the "racial draft"... hilarious.

Omg! Do a search on either Google or some file-sharing program for "I'm Rick James, bitch!" or "R. Kelly: Piss on You." 😀

Thanks for the info, ASU 🙂

For those who are intrerested in Chappelle's current situation, there is an article here.

omg, he better get his ass back to do some more shows!

but if you don't know his work, simply read my signature.

yeah, his weakness is one liners. my most favorite one liners comedian just died recently, Mitch Hedburg, that kat had me laughing to tears.

hell yes. it was a sad day when he died. many people believed even how great he was, he had yet to reach his full potential. literally too young to die. my 2 favorite one liners of his are in my signature.

A lot of people like Chappelle, my cousin does but I never thought he was funny. To me George Carlin is the only funny comic. Hell not only make you laugh but the things he says about corruption and public issues make you want to elect him president!

My bf loves that show. I had never seen it so he rented the first season DVD and we watched some of it (damn thing was soo scratched up it kept skipping and rewinding. Grrr!) I've never been a big Chappelle fan, but the skit he did where he was a blind black Nazi had me laughing pretty good.

He always talks about the "I'm Rick James, bitch" thing but I haven't seen it. Is it really that funny?

Yes, it really IS that funny. There is no way to accurately convey through a text-based forum just HOW funny that particular sketch is. You MUST see it!

Interesting ... a couple of years ago several of my friends and I agreed that George Carlin should be president 🙂 His humour has a strong libertarian political component. In fact, his famous "Seven Dirty Words" social-satire skit eventually landed in the US Supreme Court: http://www.epic.org/free_speech/fcc_v_pacifica.html

Hope he comes back soon, better then ever! "Gimme some of that popo, Gimme some of that peepee!" 😎

yeah, sad it it, but they don't say much on how he died, far as i can tell it was from a heart attack in a hotel room while on tour.
