No doubt you're humming Daydream Believer or Last Train to Clarksville as you read this.

The lead singer of The Monkees, Davy Jones, has died.

His rep tells TMZ that he died after suffering a heart attack this morning in Florida. Jones was 66.

TMZ confirmed Jones' death with an official from the medical examiner's office for Martin County, Fla.

Jones is survived by his wife Jessica and 4 daughters from previous marriages.

Jones joined The Monkees in 1965, with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork.

I love the Gretsch axe!

Just got the text about this from Ray.....very sad news. Big fan of The Monkees' music and tv show, even today I enjoy both.

R.I.P. Davy.

Terribly sad news. He died way too young.

I was never a big fan but did like some of their music. R.I.P. Davy.

I had no idea he was still actively performing.

Those were some great days, and the banana monkey gum that came with a pack of their cards always blew the biggest bubbles!

Thanks for the memories Davy, and may you rest in peace.

Sigh...another one gone....

Sighs he was my favorite Monkee...loved his accent and his looks i must admit...

Didn't think I'd hear his name in this context for many years to come. R.I.P. Davey Jones.

I heard about Davy on National Public Radio while I was minding my own business.

Shit. 🙁

I loved the Monkees records. Still do love a lot of them. But my favorite Monkees production of all time is their feature-length movie "Head"!
