Everything changed that Sunday. Then came an awaken sleeping giant with terrible resolve.

"A Day That Will Live In Imfamy".

The History Channel is airing specials tonight and tomorrow.

Had we (the West) showed the same resolve in the wake of 911 the world would be a far better place by now.

What happened today seventy years ago had an effect on everybody living today.

Take for instance the Atomic Bomb, which was used to end the war. When it was known that Germany was exploring the use of nuclear energy, the unraveling of the secrets of the atom was accelerated. Today we are faced with countries who want this knowledge and if they use it WW III will devastate mankind.

70 years ago today the world changed forever. Remember those who died not only that day, but all who made the utlimate sacrifice in the bitter, bloody years that lay ahead...

My father was already in the U.S. Army on December 7, 1941, as was one of my uncles. They had both been drafted during peace time and their terms of service were extended for "the duration plus six months."

On December 8th, another of my uncles enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was only 17 but lied about his age to enlist.

Fortunately, all 3 came home alive in 1946.

You might find this interesting Mils. The father of my late friend Don was a crew member on the Arizona. He was ashore that Sunday which might have saved his life. Years later some Navy divers were surveying the wreckage and found a ring. Using the initials inscribed on the ring the Navy tracked Don's father down and returned it to him. He later he gave it to his son who wore it proudly until the day he died.

^Your family was lucky considering all of the people who died in that war.^
