Does anyone know how I can get rid of file locations listed in the pull down menu in the Open file button? 🙂

Tools > Options > Privacy > uncheck "Save file and URL history in the player."

does everyone know that there is a Beta version of Media Player 10 available? well, there is...!!

It's already unchecked...

For some reason it won't apply the clear history function. The apply button doesn't become usable. I have decided to bump my private files off the list by playing non-private files.

Thanks for your help TT!
😀

You can try this free privacy software:
http://www.xblock.com/download/xcleaner_free.exe

Right-click on the link and "save as"; then double-click the .exe, scroll down the list, check the box "Clear Windows Media Player - Recent File List" then click "Start Cleaning" 🙂

It also optionally scans for and removes spyware and adware, but that may cause problems if you use Kazaa or similar P2P software.

Best of luck,

😀 Thanks Mistress Valerie! I am on the pc again and the laptop is unhooked and put away. I am not worried anymore about the file names because 99% of them have no mention of tickling in them and whoever my dad loans the laptop to will not be able to play them. I have double deleted the files. For the time being the laptop is still here. I am worry free. 😀

This is another good security program, East-Tec Eraser, that I use. It's like a having a shredder in your computer.

You can check it out here: http://www.east-tec.com/
