If users can delete a topic, it gives them the ability to delete all replies to said topic. Which are posts by other users. It is unfair to those posters to be removed because someone wanted to erase a thread. So we don't allow it.
When you post here you are creating a topic for open discussion and contribution, making the thread belong to the entire forum, not any specific person, and only I and my staff have say in removals that involve many users posts.
Agreed. Just because a person used poor judgment and didn't use their brain before they made a regrettable post doesn't mean they should be able to erase it after others have contributed. Just like life, there are no second chances.
You can edit your post and "erase" it that way, even though it will remain and just say you edited it.
What if someone wants to remove any trace of his involvement with this forum (due to circumstances such as having a job / boss that might do an internet search and discover threads on this forum from said person)?
