Desensitized to tickling

Greetings,

After an hour of tickling, my body seems to become desensitized to the tickling and the sensations are no longer present. It is just like someone is scratching my back, no tickling anymore. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is there any method for rekindling the sensations.

Forgive me if this has been covered previously, I am new to this board.

Thanks and happy holidays.

Hmmm,
Maybe take a look at some of the suggestions posted in my topic about making ticklees more ticklish. They seem like pretty good ideas.

😉

How I Know I'm Not a Lee

The excitement of being tickled is explosive, but quite short-lived. After a couple of minutes, I get "bored" with it... (receiving that is!) and it tickles less and less. Also, if someone I don't trust, or don't particularly feel like being touched by tickles, my sensitivity just shuts off. None of these reactions are conscious acts though. As far as rekindling, as mentioned above, I'm sure there are some good ideas in the referenced thread.

Good question

Yes, it's quite possible for even a ticklish person to become desensitized, but the effect is only temporary. A good tickler knows this and knows how to avoid letting an area become desensitized. She'll find multiple areas of ticklishness, and exploit them one by one, so that her ticklee will not have the opportunity to "get used to it." She'll also use psychological tactics such as threats and teasing to heighten the anticipation and the sensation.

I agree with drew70. Variety is the trick. It includes vaiety of places tickled, variety of touching techniques, variety of teasing comments, etc. I am inclined to think that desensitizing to tickling usually occurs when the same old tickling technique is used in the same old ticklish spot, in the same old, same old, ...

Agreed. I've noticed that certain body parts will 'burn out' if they're tickled too severely without a break for too long.

Best bet (for me) is short bursts of intense tickling (in different areas) followed by a few minutes' rest.

some spots become desensitized, some don't

i find that if i'm tickled to roughly, i become desensitized. also if i'm tickled w/o a change in pattern, i will loose that tickle feeling. but that doesn't apply to all areas! there are a couple areas that defy the laws of nature. on my most ticklish spot, to get the greatest reaction, you have to devolope a steady rythum, and pressure, and don't change! this seeme to increase my ticklishness to an unbelieveable level, and i'll follow you like a puppy after wards! lol
