What a great series! It ranks right up there with the Devils/Avs and the Rangers/Canucks Finals.
And how cool was it to see Scott Stevens hoist the Cup to the Star Wars theme? Got chills, man...
A big congratulations to the Anahiem Mighty Ducks for having a truly outstanding season. Last place last year to pushing the finals to seven games. Actually, if they'd played anyone but my beloved Devils, I'd have been pulling for the Ducks.
Jean-Sebastian Giguere became only the fifth player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (playoff MVP) from a losing team. The only down point was the lack of class shown by the fans who booed him while the Devils players were cheering him on. "Jiggy" deserved every ounce of that honor.
There's no better defensive team than the Devils, especially with a lead, and they showed it last night...finishing the series the way it started, with a 3-0 victory. FYI, this was only the third finals where each team won all of it's home-ice games.
This is why I love hockey...it's the only sport where my favorite team consistently wins. We're tied with Detroit for most wins in the last decade...anyone smell a dynasty?
