I recently started drinking diet drinks......needed to cut back on beer and Dr. Pepper.....lose that irritating 10 pounds.....anyway, to my shock, Diet Dr. Pepper is actually almost the same as it's counterpart. It is quite good!! (for a diet drink)

-pretty dumb thread ain't it??? Can you tell im bored??? 😀 😎

You oughta see if you can get paid for advertising it on this forum. There are almost 4,000 human-like objects on the TMF, so they'll likely make money off your post.

Not a dumb thread, Krokus, just a sad one......anytime someone has to cut back on beer.

Drew.

I'm a Pepper, too!

Diet? Gotta try it! Makes a nice diversion from the cocktails - one more Zombie or Long Island Ice Tea and my brain's gonna fry, I swear...

Yo

I just discovered that diet Mountain Dew is pretty good as well. Try it out!! (Now where is my money?? hehehehe)

Try Straub beer...no sugar, salt,or preservatives added.

PEPSI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

drink pepsi...must have pepsi.....gotta have pepsi....(ok can somebody from PEPSI hire me now? lol)...

Diet Pepsi...it runs through my veins....

Well it did. After decades of addiction I'm giving it up. I've come to the conclusion that diet pop is really really really bad for you. IMO it doesn't help you lose weight, it makes you crave more sweets. It makes you retain water. It leeches calcium from your bones like almost nothing else can. It gives you gas. And I don't think all that NutraSweet is good for us either. Have you ever tasted Diet Pepsi when it's past its expiration date? It's bitter. That ain't good. There's something wrong with something sweet that goes bitter like that.

Also, my local Pepsi bottler completely blew me off when I complained that my retailer was selling expired Diet Pepsi by putting old cans into new Pepsi boxes that didn't have expiration dates on them - boxes obviously supplied by Pepsi. So screw 'em! 😀

diet caffriene free "your fav softdrink here"

would'nt that be...water?

i either drink water, coke classic or sweet tea..kidneys be damned.

(p.s. just kidding kidneys) 😀

Pepsi Cola

EQ, Giggley Girl, I worked for PepsiCo for 15+ years...RUN, do not walk, away from the product....that is one messed up company, at least the restaurant division. I bailed about 10 years ago and have never regretted it...btw, EQ, we made the Diet Pepsi addictive on purpose...had the same problem and had to go "cold turkey"...lol. Q

Hiya Q! I thought the Pepsi reference might bring a response from you.😀 BTW, when you went cold turkey what symptoms did you get? I tried that years ago and got such a massive 24-hr headache that this time I'm weaning off it slowly, alternating Pepsi with water throughout the day. I still feel like crud though, but I'm not sure if it's hay fever or chemicals. What say you? Thanks.

Symptoms..

Headache, hands shaking, general irritability...but your stomach lining and esophagus will thank you, eventually. The caffeine content is whats getting you...tea will alleviate it, but then you'll be addicted to that...lol. Q

Pfui on diet drinks! I drink bad coffee, the kind that stays in the pot all day. Add a pinch of salt to the pot and water it a little, and your taste buds will lay down and let you get your caffeine fix. Goes good with a cigarette.

healthy diet drinks

there are only 2 healthy diet drinks. water. ice tea.
the more you drink, the faster you'll loose that extra 10lbs.

Gotta agree with evilqueen, Steve and all others who are not fans of diet softdrinks. Give them up ASAP!
From my own personal experience, as soon as I gave up the diet colas(or pop as we call it here in the great white north) the weightloss "stal" which I had been experiencing for 3 months despite severly limiting carbs and calories(I am a low carbohydrate diet for health as well as ascethetic reasons) and exercising at least 1 hr per day, I started to lose again. IMHO it was an unholy combination of the caffine, the aspertame, and the citric acid which messed things up. While I do not fully believe all the "urban legends" circulating on the net regarding the deadlyness of aspertame, for people with a sensitivity to it(like me and a LOT of others I am sure) it can casue quite a problem with both health and weightloss. If you HAVE to have swet things or sweeten somehting try plain ol water falvoured with lemon and if you like, sweetend with Splenda( available in your local food star/walmart) But plain old water is DEFINATELY the best.!😀

A well balanced diet including the basic food groups:

1)Grain = Beer

2)Dairy = Ice Cream

3)Meat = Sausage and Bacon

4) Vegetables = Potato Chips

5) Pastries = Donuts and Eclairs

The pastries food group has only recently been discovered by nutrionists.😀

good: i've got the 5th group covered

I never could get past the taste of diet sodas, ever since I was a kid. People talk about how bad Tab cola was, and I definitely agree with them. The thing is, Diet Pepsi and Coke don't taste that much different to me. I don't really want to 'learn' to like it because I consider Nutrasweet to be a very suspicious substance. I've stayed away from it ever since it first hit the market. Pepsi One tastes like Diet, to me, which is kind of funny in the sense that they were marketing it as being indiscernable from Coke. Bleh.

problems with aspertame

if you ever get a headache while drinking a bevarage, with aspertame, or afterwards, then you are hypersensitive to it. avoid it.
another problem is that it still causes your body to release insulin, which causes your body to react as if you ate carbohydrates, or sugar.

i have been on the high protein, moderate fat, low carb. diet since 5/1997. i'm doing great! i love it!
also stepping down from soap box.

Celticrose

Up till now the only area where soft drinks were called pop was mine.

Actually, I prefer the taste of caffeine free diet Coke and Pepsi over the regular drinks.

Just drink water, it's so good for you.
Drinking all these artificial drinks is a sure way to poison your body.

Steve,

Nice to see another "lowcarber" here. I lost a substancial amount of weight on LC, and though I gained a bit of it back, mostly due to forsaking the diet due to personal problems and medication, I am back on full-force and feeling 110%.😀 (I am on a modified version of Atkins; really the only difference is that I allow myself a bit more non starchy veggies than he recoments, and don't go AS fatty as the original diet, but aside from that. it is the same)

PS IMHO do you have a lot more energy from LC? I know I due, and during tickle sessions , that translates into MAJOR torture and fun!

major energy boost

i lost about 15 lbs in 6 weeks on the low carb diet. i fluctuate only when i cheat.
the amjor reson i went to the high protein diet was to reduce my cholesterol, and triglycerol levels. they dropped like stones!😀
i noticed the same effect, my energy level is incredible. no lag time after meals, as with carbs. i don't miss carbs at all.

I used to become violently ill from aspertame, but I recently tried it again and am tolerating it well. I didn't have a choice about giving up sugar. I am a diabetic.
I was not aware that aspertame causes the body to release insulin. As a type 2 diabetic, I am still releasing insulin and combined with a sensible diet and regular "exercise" 😉 😀 my blood sugars have been pretty normal.

My diet soda of choice has become Diet Coke with Lemon. I really think it is contributing to my lowered blood sugars as well. 🙂

Thanks areenactor for this valuable info.
