Difficulties uploading attachments? Send HDS a PM!

We have isolated the problem that is affecting certain users when uploading attachments. Some users, and it seems to be users registered before the server move, are receiving "Upload of file failed" messages when trying to upload attachments. A solution has been found but the solution (Creating a blank user and merging the old, affected one with the new one) has to be done on an account-by-account basis. If you are being affected by this issue, please, please, please send myself or another Staff member a PM, email the TT contact address present at the bottom of each page. When you do, please provide your username (If you use email so we know who you are) and either your TickleTheater password or permission to merge you without the password. If we don't have your password the merger can be done but afterwards you will have to reset your password to be able to log in as the password is the only thing that won't transfer in the merger.

Again, if you are getting "Upload of file failed" messages when uploading attachments, please contact a TickleTheater Staff member.

Your e-mail provider blocked the validation e-mail that you need in order to fully activate your account. Please send an e-mail from the e-mail address that you used to register, to me at ga7i6yk02 @ sneakemail.com (without the spaces) and I will be happy to validate your account manually.

How do you mean? If by that you mean "why is this still the main announcement" then that is because a) it is still relevant as I am confident some users experiencing this issue have yet to contact me and also because b) when an announcement is stickied it remains on the front page indefinitely (Until a newer announcement is stickied or this one is destickied and another newer announcement, stickied or otherwise, is present).

How much are you trying to upload? You shouldn't be seeing an error like that but might if your attachments are too big.

4.74MB, it says 5.00MB on the chart for an .avi clip

You should be able to upload one of that size. Care to email me the file so I can test it? If I get the same error then something needs fixing. If I don't then investigation begins.

Testing upload of file ... ah, I see the problem. The true size of the file is visible by right-clicking on the file (Windows) and selecting "Properties". See a value in parentheses next to 4.74? See how it is "4,972,544 bytes"? That's nearly the upper limit for file sizes on the board. I suspect it is so close that it doesn't quite make it. Let us test ... indeed, t'was the size. I reencoded it as a WMV in Windows Movie Maker with settings that kept its size lower. It uploads just fine now.
