Directing mainstream tickling scenes

I have been watching a show on HBO called Project Greenlight which is a reality show that gives a behind the scenes look at the making of a movie. No tickling in this show, but it got me to thinking...

Wouldn't it be awesome to see the behind the scenes directing of tickling scenes? The director pulls the actress aside, asks if she is ticklish (and where), rehearsal and test-tickles, discussion on how the scene will play out, re-takes, etc.

I was thinking about this after viewing the Alicia Silverstone clip:

Her laughter seems too fake - the kids probably were not doing a good enough job of tickling. If I was directing, I would have stationed a stagehand off-camera at at her bare feet and given her a good tickling while the kids were jumped on top of her tickling her upperbody. That would hopefully elicit a realistic ticklish reaction. But part of the fun would be sitting down with Alicia, asking if she is ticklish, taking her aside to tell her its too fake, test tickles on her feet, requesting re-takes.

I've seen behind-the-scenes on a few tickling videos and I absolutely love them. Has any one been on mainstream movie sets or seen behind the scenes footage?

No, but that's a really interesting concept. Other than a passing reference to a scene in which an actress is tickled, I wouldn't count on seeing, though.

I have often wondered what the dialog is like before a scene like "North to Alaska". Were they all laughing saying here it comes? Was there any dialog between the director and the actress? If you watch closely, while she is sitting on the bed, you can see her position her leg like she is loosening her shoe. Did the director tell her to do that?

I would have loved to be in the cabin discussing that scene on "North to Alaska". tickleking - I expect that you are correct - we will not see many behind the scenes.

But on DVD's now, I am seeing director's cuts as well as director commentary over scenes in the movie. Basically, the movie plays and the director/producer gives their point of view. I will definitely start looking for those commentaries on the DVD's with tickling scenes.

Another good spot to catch tickling outtakes is on those blooper shows. There have been a number of times when we've caught things by watching them.

In the Shirley Maclaine film "Loving Couples" she's lying ona bed and her lover tickles her..... but BEFORE the tickling started, as the dialouge introduced the set-up, you can watch Shirley already squirming & laughing..... She knew it was coming and couldn't hold back her nervous twitchyiness!

BTW - she answers fan mail sent to her personally.... so if anyone had the interest to ask her about that scene they just might get an answer written in her own hand........

It also occurred to me that the lady who played in "Brothers Karamazov" (sp?) was actually a poster in our community on AMT a few years ago, when she heard that there was interest in her being foot tickled in the movie.

Does she ever post here?

I've spoken to a few of the folks responsible for Bikini Karate Babes and I've asked 'em a bit about the tickling character, Thalia. I had a few chats with "Tien Wu", especially on the subject. She mentioned that everyone kept a jovial atmosphere on the set that day so that the models could get in the proper mood.
