Yeah, if they are in it it's probably just a cameo thing, then they die... I'm not worried. Just one more way for Lucas/20th Centruy Fox to lure in the new generation of Star Wars fans along with the original fans of '77. Really, besides his being a good actor, the only reason Samuel L. Jackson got into the series recently was because he was such a fan of the 1st films and he asked/begged to be involved. I'll bet that's how N'Sync got in.
As far as Jar Jar goes, I think Lucas stuck himself in a difficult place.... he needed something that was light and humourous, but he didn't have the banter of R2D2 and C3PO, nor did he have the interpaly of Han and Chewbacca, so he needed some other sort of vehicle for humor... plus, he wanted to showcase the talent of the special effects crew, putting in a chracter to act with the other characters that wasn't even there.... finally, the humor of Jar Jar was rather sophmoric because I guess the newer generation of Star Wars fans ( ie, "kids today" ) are into that type of humor (plus it was his character, the clumsy siliness, that got him banned from his homeland). I think Lucas pulled all these loose ends together with Jar Jar and unfortuneatly it didn't go too smoothly.... but, keeping those things in mind, I have far more tolernace for Jar Jar than for the overacting of Jake Lloyd as Anakin, especially after seeing Hailey Joel Osmeth (from 6th Sense) and the little kid from Stir of Echos doing such great jobs that same year!
