Do Not Call Ruled Against

OKLAHOMA CITY - A federal judge has ruled that the Federal Trade Commission overstepped its authority in creating a national do-not-call list against telemarketers.
The ruling came in a lawsuit brought by telemarketers who challenged the list, comprised of names of people who do not want to receive business solicitation calls. The immediate impact of Tuesday's ruling was not clear. The list was to go into effect Oct. 1. U.S. District Judge Lee R. West sided in favor of the plaintiffs, U.S. Security, Chartered Benefit Services Inc., Global Contact Services Inc., InfoCision Management Corp. and Direct Marketing Association Inc. The telemarketing industry estimates that the do-not-call list could cut its business in half, costing it up to $50 billion in sales each year. More than a dozen state with do-not-call lists plan to add their lists to the national registry this summer, the FTC said. Telemarketers would have to check the list every three months to see who doesn't want to be called. Those who call listed people could be fined up to $11,000 for each violation.




Dosent take much ethics to be a telemarketer I guess.

I just hang up on most of them or if I am in a good mood, I will let them go through their entire routine then tell them "thanks but no thanks" or I will have some fun with them some how.

As for the Federal Judge, his nephew is probably a Telemarketer.😀

Well, they say that "money talks and bullshit walks," but in this case, I'd say it is money AND bullshit doing the talking. Do they really expect us to believe that they make $50 billion a year from people who don't like being called by telemarketers?

How about we find out who this judge is, and each of us call him and try to sell him things like old shoelaces, used toilet paper, empty McDonalds wrappers, etc.?

Is this another example of corporations telling the American people what they need or don't need? Is this just another example of the government sitting on their hands? Or the will of the people don't matter?
