do you ever feel stupid asking a question?

over on the tmf i was known for basically asking what turned out to be stupid questions..meaning i should have known the answer..but i don't always know..and when i don't know, i ask...do you ever feel stupid asking a question..i mean i just asked someone about what is carotid? you would think i should know that at my age...sighs..i also sometimes don't get jokes..and would say i don't get it...and have a nineteen year old explain it to me..gesh...lol

As just about every one of my university professors have told me and stood by, there really is no such thing as a stupid question. You ask a question because you don't know the answer and want it. To some people, the answer is blatantly obvious which may result in them declaring that the question is stupid. To other people, it may be a genuine question where those people have the same reasons as the potential question asker.

No such thing as stupid questions... stupid reactions maybe, but no stupid questions. 🙂

I would not worry about what other people think. My english is not very good and I have to ask alot of stupid questions, especially when someone uses abbreviations, misspells a word, or uses the first letters of a group of words. Without looking your word up, i guess you mean carotid artery which in Italiano is "arteria carotidea."

I never feel stupid asking a question. Then again, I usually try to find the answer out myself through different ways before asking someone.

Yeah, it can be a pain in the ass, but at least then you know (based on the site) that you're getting an accurate answer. Asking a bunch of people on a forum can get you a lot of different responses

I would put it this way. You're always stupid when you ask any question. But then again, how can you learn without asking? Even looking up info is a form of question asking.

Ignorance is only stupid thing in existence. I tend to learn about topic that I previously didn't know anything, so I wouldn't feel so ashamed. For me asking questions about anything... even 'stupid things' is better than not knowing

ok i didn't necessarily mean asking a forum for answers..i used to do that..i mean in general..or..well uh can you google pearl necklace? i had no idea what that meant...or 69??? i didn't know what that was either until a few years ago...i mean can you google slang sex terms? and didn't i feel rather silly when a nineteen year old explained those terms to me...sighs..ooo or having a young guy tell me where my g-spot is located..now that i know you can google...:redface:

Usually yes, but my insatiable thirst for knowledge usually makes me end up feeling stupid and asking the question any ways.
I like to think I'm fairly knowledgeable about many academic-related things (ex. medicine, philosophy, books, movies, etc.) but street stuff - I'm pretty, really naive, and am okay unless someone brings up something I have no idea about. 🙁

I suppose most of us are to some extent or another. I had no idea what "milking" was until someone brought it up a week or two ago. Nor was I aware that there's apparently a whole community out there into tiny(I'm talking itty-bitty, like inches tall) women!
