Do You Often Eat The Same Things?

Food thread, that is hopefully, benign.

When eating, do you often eat the same things, or., order the same dish (es) if eating out, or ordering in?

When I was younger, and my grandparents lived in FL, back when I was skinny as a rail, and didn't give a rip about food, I always noticed that my maternal grandfather would go to the same two or three places to eat, and usually order the same things, whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner that I went to with him. I think I may have inherited his eating habits, to a degree.

I eat Chinese food about twice a week. (Which I figure is okay, since I don't eat the same quantities as I used to at the buffets in Lancaster). I order from a call in place across the street from my apartment. When they hear my voice, they know exactly where I live, and what I want. The chicken and broc, with brown rice, wonton soup, and sometimes, an egg roll. I've had other dishes from them, but find their chicken and garlic sauce, a dish I love, too spicy.

Similar situation when I go to the place Maria works. I usually eat a burger, salad, fries, cokes, and teas.

Once a week, I have a bagel and lox from the bagel place across the st from my apt. When he sees me enter the store, he starts making my sandwich.

When I'm with friends, or family, at different eating places, I will switch off. Usually when we go to my father's favorite fancy Chinese place in Manhattan, Shun Lee Palace, I let him order two dishes, and we split it. I'm not a fan of Chinese beef, but will eat most chicken or seafood dishes.

My ex best friend used to tease me about this. He used to like to go to many different places, and order different things.

If I go to an Italian place, (Forest Hills has Pizzeria Uno, which can be pricey, so I don't go often) I usually get a chicken parm, ceaser salad, and pasta.

I think I inherited my grandfather's eating habits. I eat most of the main foods. (American, Italian, Chinese, Japanese) I seem to just like a lot of the same dishes.

Does anyone else have these eating habits?

I generally eat at (or order delivery from) the same half dozen restaurants. But I vary what I order quite a bit.

Sort of, there are some restaurants that I have a favorite dish at that I may not get any where else for whatever reason. Example, there is an Indian restaurant in VA that whenever I'm in town I always try to get semolina pudding at, but I've never had it anywhere else though. Also, if I go to a sushi place I always get unagi unless theirs is no good along with other types. I use to only get green tea bubble tea, until one time the place was out of that flavor then I tried their milk tea, so now I have an alternative. And if I go to a Thai restaurant if they have it I will usually get either Tai iced tea or Thai iced coffee. And if I stumble across either ube or pumpkin spice flavored confectionary food deliciousness (ice cream included!) I'll usually try it.

Fries, Garlic Bread, Lasagne, i'm usually bland as anything!

I do like Chinese

Indian, I usually eat sides, bombay aloo, rice etc

Nowt too spicy for old wolfie

I have typical things I choose from at the chain restaurants. If they have something new or seasonal that I like, I may venture off the beaten course. We used to go to a neighborhood restaurant so often after work, the waitress would have our drinks ready by the time we go to the table. On a bad night, I'd order my second drink by the time she came to take the food order...

I tend to rotate between take out places (pizza and others) and the local chains. I find chicken or pork pretty good choices and more variety than a typical burger. But I can get a salad or an appetizer and be just as full. I do love Indian food - chicken curry or chicken tikka masala with basmati rice. Those are the ones I stand by or order again and again.

And when I was in school - like K-12 - I packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every day. So how's that for monotony?

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I'm almost a little.. embarrassed to admit this,.. but.. as I eat only one big meal a day, I usually eat a ham sandwich at some point, on most days, either sometimes with cheese, or salami.

I have to admit I'm an eccentric eater. I eat only fast food from a few different places that I go to on the same days of the week. Everyone at these places knows my order as I always get the same things. At one restaurant I go to they don't even bother with giving me a menu. Even the concession stand lady at the movie theater knows what I get when she sees me coming lol.

depending on my financial situation at the time I will go to the same place and get the same thing, it'd be funny if one day the waiter/waitress will say hello Steve will it be the usual today

LOL kop. I like that statement. I would say you could consider me a "regular" who has "The usual", at a few places here.

I don't really order in much, but when I do it's always from the same two places. I tend to try different things on their menus though, and if I find something I like I'll probably keep ordering it for a while until the novelty wears off.

My home cooking is more along the lines of "mostly eating the same thing" though, as I tend to make different chicken-and-vegetable wooks several times a week. I'll flavor them differently and use different vegetables, and sometimes I replace the chicken with salmon, but the base dish is pretty much the same. If I want red meat it's almost always mince, but as a rule I don't consume much of it anyway.

I've been to the Taco Shack on Cross Park so many times they know what I want before I get to the counter: Four crispy tacos to go, extra salsa on the side. If I go to the Rudy's BBQ on Research, four pork ribs to go, pickles and maybe a side order. The ribs are usually huge. I put two in a baggie and stick them in the fridge, and warm them up a few days later. Sometimes I'll switch up and get the extra moist brisket or a half link of jalapeno sausage. Don't eat out much otherwise. The microwave is my friend.

I have lunch at Chipotle pretty much every day that I'm at work. Barbacoa bowl with guacamole and a large drink... Same thing for years now.
