You are a human being. Bipolar Disorder is pretty much accepted to be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain; it's not a voluntary condition, or a result of something you're doing or not doing. There's a common misconception in our society that issues with brain chemistry are somehow different than issues with chemistry in other areas of the body, and that hard work, therapy, etc can cure them. That's bullshit. The brain isn't a muscle. It's an organ. Changes in behavior and lifestyle can help; people with diabetes can alter their lifestyles to make things better, but insulin is still an issue. They're still human beings, right?
