Does the search engine make partial word matches?

I have a technical question. If I search for, say, "kidnap", will the forum search also return threads with "kidnaps" or "kidnapping", or "kidnapf" for that matter, or would I have to run separate searches for those? Also, is this an optional setting for the administrators or would the answer be the same for all forums with this software?

You can always type "kidnap*" to get all variations. The wildcard, "*", will tell vB to search for kidnap, kidnaps, kidnapped, and so on for sure. Whether it does it automatically or not I do not know.
