Not really personal, just a discussion I was having with someone about sports..
As I said, this person and I were discussing sports..
We were discussing the subject of the meaning.. of what it means.. if a fan says that a player.. or a team "Sucks".
In this person's opinion, the discussion of something "Sucking".. has no place in sports, and is a vulgar or sexual context.
My view..
If a fan is frustrated with their team.. or a particular player, and they say that said team, or said player.. "Sucks".. All they mean is that the player or team is playing badly.
When I say The Braves. (Who are playing badly this year). "Suck".. All I mean is their play this year is terrible, and it is never intended to be in a sexual or vulgar context.
I also want to make clear that I didnt say to this person anything like "The Braves suck balls", because I just have general conversation with them, and wouldnt get vulgar, or sexual, with them, in any way.
So what are the thoughts on this?
Is saying something "Sucks".in the context of sports, etc, just saying it is bad, like a team/player etc, or can they see the other person' I was talking to, and their argument of it being a more sexual context to say something "Sucks", even when just referring to sports.
