Dylan Roof committed one of the worst crimes in the history of this country.
Mass Murder based on racism, and malice.
This crime angers and sickens me to such a degree, that normally I would say.
"Give him the death penalty, inject him, and throw him away".
In most cases, because of "appeals" it usually takes. many years, or even sometimes. . decades between the time that a murderer is sentenced to death, and the time they are actually executed.
The issue I'm having with this is. '
In which way would he "suffer more".
In which way, would this.. brutal individual, with no regard for human life.. be made to suffer more for his crimes.
Perhaps, giving him life in prison.. no chance of parole.. ever.. would be the means of making such happen.
However.. since his attorneys are "asking" for life in prison for this individual, and asking for him to be spared..
Has this individual mentally prepared himself to be incarcerated for the remainder of his miserable existence.
In this case.. perhaps ;. the death penalty.. would be appropriate, which would probably consist of the usual long term in jail as he was waiting to be executed.. combined with the "Appeals process"..
After which,,. even in, a decade from now, at which time he would still be relatively young..
He could then still be executed.
That might serve as almost.. the most appropriate punishment.. where he suffers in prison for a lengthy time, and then has his life taken,, in a far more "humane " manner then the brutal manner that he took the human lives by the vicious crime he committed.
