I'm not sure how many underground hip hop fans we have on the forum, but Killer Mike is teaming up with El-P for a collabo album. Personally i'm stoked, as Killer Mike is the closest thing rap fans have to a Chuck D or Bigg Jus of 2012. El P ALWAYS kills it with production, so stoked.. anyone else have an opinion on this who listens to this genre of music?

It should be interesting. I'm not as familiar with the material of either one as I'd like to be, but I do like what I have heard. Killer Mike's albums are solid and as for El-P, I dig the first Company Flow album.

Do you think you might recommend some underground rap for me? Like ten albums you think anyone getting into it should start with? I don't have an opinion but I'd definitely like to, I've just ordered the Odd Future Tape, but I don't know whether or not that counts as truly "Underground" or not? Apart from that I'm clueless on underground stuff.

Well... i'm not sure what the technical definition of "underground" is today, but I can give you a list of some classic, lesser known albums from the late 90s into the 200's that are great ones to have:

Company Flow - Funcrusher Plus
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Aesop Rock - Labor Days
Rawkus Records Soundbombing - Volumes 1 and 2
Atmosphere - God Loves Ugly
MF Doom - Operation Doomsday
Bigg Jus - Poor Peoples Day
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
Madvillain (MF Doom + Madlib) - Madvillainy

Thats a core group of albums from the late 90's into the 2000's that started the modern wave of hip hop music termed "underground". Odd Future, while not exactly, is a trend setter in themselves starting a similar wave of the new underground sound for today.

Hope this helped! Anyone who is a fan please feel free to add more albums that are worthy of copping

Well I streamed the album off of Spotify today. Straight BANGER. If any of you enjoy politically infused Hip Hop I suggest you check it out. The album is R.A.P. Music by Killer Mike with all production handled by El P!
