Electrical Surge zapped USB ports

A household surge zapped my USB ports. No USB device can be recognized on my computer. Any suggestions? What do I need to replace? 😱 : 🙂wowzer: 😕 😱 😱

first thing i would try is reinstalling the drivers for the usb ports from your motherboard install cd, if that doesn't work then i think your motherboard may be damaged and you'll have to replace it

If everything else is working and you don't want to spend the money to get it repaired or get a whole new motherboard, just buy a PCI USB card to add into your computer:
