Epilogue
Up on a hill, perhaps a hundred yards away from the house, just inside the tree line, a woman is watching.
“Enjoy your party now, but when I spring my boyfriend you’re going to pay bitch.” She hissed under her breath, putting her binoculars down, picking up a camera with a long distance lens.
“You know, it’s rude to show up to a party uninvited.” A voice came from behind her making her nearly jump out of her skin. She couldn’t hide her panic as she spun around, heart and mind racing.
She caught sight of another woman, with long hair which was black as midnight, and whose icy blue eyes seemed to freeze her in place. She was leaning cooly against a tree, dressed head to toe in black, except for a lightning bolt belt buckle.
“I don’t remember seeing Amy Emily, one time former, and apparently current girlfriend of Justin Franklin, on the guest list. It must be hard maintaining a relationship when one of you is in California under an assumed name and currently incarcerated.”
Amy’s jaw dropped, as a chill ran through her body, turning her heart to ice.
“H...how did...?” Amy began to stammer.
“I hope you didn’t come all this way to hide up in the woods with binoculars, a telephoto lens, and what was a loaded .45...” the black haired woman spun the gun on her finger, holding the bullets out in her other hand before returning them to her jacket pockets “like some kind of stalker.” She continued.
“Because that young couple down there are very close to me. Now if you’re thinking about starting trouble, let me tell you that it would be a big mistake. Krista, Billy, and everyone else down there are off limits.”
Amy’s legs turned to jelly, and she dropped to her knees, she’d never been so scared in her life. The black haired woman took her chin in her black leather gloved hand.
“Now I’m going to give you just one chance, like I gave Justin. Walk away, and forget about all this.”
Amy stretched out a trembling hand, and the mystery woman helped her up to her feet. “I don’t want any trouble...” her voice wavering and thin.
“Good,” She said “Because I have a friend of mine talking to your friend Jamie sitting half a mile down the road in a mint green Buick. Let’s hope that she’s smarter than her brother.”
And with that, Amy turned and ran as if her life depended on it. She felt those icy blue eyes on her back as she ran, and couldn’t shake the feeling that they would be on her from now on.
Once she was out of sight, the black haired woman activated her comm link. “Hey Angie, how’d go with Justin’s sister?”
She heard a chuckle, “It was fine Sam, I don’t think we’ll have any trouble from these two or anyone else.”
“Good, have two agents to keep an eye on them. I want 24/7 surveillance until we’re sure.”
“Gotcha Sam, anything else?”
“Yeah, I’m going back down to the party you wanna come? I’ll introduce you.”
“Sounds good, be there in ten.”
