Ever been to Israel, or studied abroad?

I'm spending the summer of 2014 in Haifa, Israel, to finish studying Hebrew
(I've been learning it for the last year), and also to learn Arabic. I've read all
of the blogs I can find written by other students who have taken the same
program. I'm wondering if any of my TMF friends have been to Israel, particularly
studied there, but would also love to hear of studies abroad in general. If you have
a blog, I'd love to read it as well.

Hope to hear of some of your experiences. 🙂

I studied abroad in Switzerland my junior year in undergrad. I tested my language skills and learned a lot culturally about a country that we didn't really study much during my public school education. I also traveled a fair bit - it really was a wonderful experience and did a lot to broaden my horizons (not to sound too cliche). At the time, I planned on going into the Peace Corps, so I really wanted to see how well I coped with the challenges. And while I didn't end up managing to go into the Peace Corps, I found this to be an invaluable growing opportunity that helped me in other ways later during my academic and professional career.

Best of luck on your trip 🙂 Hebrew has always fascinated me as a language and I would love to become fluent in it one day myself.

As for me, I'm in school obtaining my Master's right now and hope soon to study abroad in London. I'm going to fill out the paperwork this coming term and see what I need to do to get the ball rolling on that. 🙂

Thanks for the responses! 🙂

@ChosenofMystra, I recommend the Pimsleur method. It's really useful, I got
started using it when I had a 90 minute commute each way to work, so I got
a lesson or two in each morning. It's great!

Best of luck with it. I have a friend currently in the Peace Corps in Morocco. She says its been the most rewarding and eye opening experience while also being the most frustrating and upsetting one at times.

I went to the UK for my masters degree 🙂 Best year of my life 😛 Never been to Israel though, but I've heard it's awesome, especially the seaside resorts 🙂

Oh, man. I wish. I have a friend who spent a year and a half in Barcelona going to a University there, and she says that it was the most amazing experience ever.

I want to go abroad before I die.
