When Ross got to OKC, he met with Steve and Fritz to discuss the cleanup, and the company handling such.
Ross started by saying.
"Guys, I dont want to.. analyze what you both might be thinking, because I have to hear it from both of you. It seemed to me that when we first agreed to give this cleanup company twenty five percent of the interest in the oil and gas company, it may have been fair, and perhaps you both thought I was being. Paranoid by not trusting them. Have either of you changed your feelings, and do you see my point?" Ross asked.
"Ross, I think that both Steve and me may be more "trusting" than you. Maybe that is just our personalities. Yet, the longer this situation goes on, we are both beginning to feel very uncomfortable about it as well" Fritz said.
"My feeling, they are trying to drag this along so much, that they are hoping we will sell out at a loss, because the cleanup will cost us so much , that it wont make financial sense to keep the company anymore, and then they will get out company, and screw us all" Ross said.
Then Ross continued. "The other problem is if we try to get rid of them, and hired another company, they are so big, that they can sue us, and get our oil and gas assets in that way"
"Do you think we should try to have a meeting, or conference call with them, and air this all out calmly, ?" Steve asked.
"I hope so. The fact is, they can justify that they know all about oil cleanups, and we dont. This way, they continue to drag it along, at an expense which wont be worth continuing to cover" Ross said.
"A friend of mine in New York who you guys dont know, almost.. scolded me for getting involved in a new business that I barely know anything about, even in spite of how successful have been in Marketing"" Ross said.
"Maybe your friend is right" Steve said.
"I just hope and wish there was a way out of this, without having to sell off or dump the whole company. The question is, how much will these people play hardball with us?" Ross said.
Then Ross continued. "I would like to stay down here, and spend time and figure all this out, but the fact is, I have a lot of work to do in New York where I must get back. I can always come back down on a day's notice. Let me go home tomorrow, think this over, and see if I can find anyone who might be able to help us. " Ross said.
"Do as you want, and I can see your point. We will keep in touch often" Fritz said.
Ross went to the hotel, called Kayley. Kayley said. "That was fast"
"I can't do anything much more down here as I really have to think things over. I had a meeting with Fritz and Steve. We agreed that this cleanup place might be dragging things along to make us sell the company to them at a loss to us. I have to come home, and search around to see if there is anyone I know up there, who can help me figure this out" Ross said.
"Okay, see you tomorrow" Kayley said.
Ross took an early morning flgiht to New York, went home , checked in at the office, and all was calm. Then he called a friend who knew something about cleanups in other businesses, and might know someone who knew a person who knew about oil and gas.
"Leroy, do you think you can help me? I would eternally appreciate any advice you or anyone you know would have. I'm beginning to think this is a serious situation" Ross said.
"I see why you're uncomfortable. Let me make some calls, and see how I can help you. I'm sure we can figure something out" Leroy said.
"Thanks, buddy" Ross said.
Ross called Tim Patrick. "So how was OKC?" Tim said.
"It does not look good, Tim. Fritz, Steve and me are beginning to think that this company is dragging it along to make the cleanup so expensive that we will be forced to sell out the oil and gas company to them at a loss. I called a friend here in New York that knows people who know about cleanups, and he said he was going to try to help me. This has nothing to do with RossShell. I just want to work and relax at home today. I will be in the office tomorrow, and all work for you and anyone else who is a marketing client, will continue, and be finished on time, even if I have to hire marketing temps to help me" Ross said.
"I've always known that, Ross. I completely understand your being upset and frustration about this. I have one piece of advice. Let your friend try to help in the way you asked him , and see what happens. Maybe there is a way you can get out of this, without the whole venture being lost" Tim said.
"Thanks, buddy,. I appreciate the support. I will be in the office tomorrow" Ross said.
When Kayley got home from school, and Ross had kissed her hello, and they talked about them, Kayley said.
"Okay, Mister Oil and Gas, out with it. How bad is it, and what is going on?" Kayley asked.
"I hope I'm not being paranoid, but if it's what I suspect, it could be very bad, threatening to the whole company, and venture, where these people might force us to sell out at a loss. I have a friend who knows about these things checking it out, and I know I have to give it some time. I personally would like to come to an agreement with them, pay them a fee, and break the contract, and find another company to do the cleamup, but this cleanup company may not do that, and keep suing, until either they get the whole company in a setttlement or force the company into bankruptcy" Ross said.
"Ross, cross each bridge when you come to it. See how it plays out" Kayley said.
"I have no choice not to. Right now, we can't afford to do anything else" Ross replied.
That night, Ross got into bed, and had an almost.. hopeless feeling over him about the oil and gas company., While he was thankful that the RossShell sell off of assets was proceeding along, he really wanted to remain in oil and gas.
What would the outcome be? Would Ross's friend be able to figure a way out of this?
That remained to be seen.
