very rectnly the all american american rock and roll tickle king known as the hollywood brother was cleaning out his tickle palace and notcied that the had some cans of soup that were past the dates stamped on the saled cans. the hollywood brother dumped the contents out and recycled the cans but it got the hollywood brother thinking. when you see a date on a grocery item like a can of soup, a bottle of gaterade, water, or anything else and it has a date on it that is expired, is it good to still consume or is it better to throw it out?

hmmm probably a good idea to toss it..i once drank some hot chocolate that was expired..ack it had lost it's flavor etc..

Most things are safe after the date. Bread is a perfect example; if it's not stale or moldy it's still good. I see people waste perfectly good bread all the time because it's the "due date".

You can usually tell, if meat smells like fish it's probably bad. I thought canned stuff was good for years?

My grandmother always said "When in doubt, throw it out"

Certainly the safest course of action. Anything with meat/eggs/milk in it (except maybe yogurt or cheese), pitch if it's past the pull-date. Anything fried or with shortening may be rancid (you can tell by the smell). Fruit that's fermented might be fooey (or fun, depending!).

the hollywood brother thanks everyone for there post on this topic

I remember the one time someone had gave my mom some macaroni and cheese and she was about to make it but noticed the date was 1987 lol and after i looked at it and the box looked very old. lol but i think its not a good ideal to eat or drink anything thats past the expiration date.

Well,we have some Cheese Cake in the fridge and the expiration date said it should be thrown away, but it tastes good to me.I ate a slice and didn't get sick.

Meat or dairy products will have a foul smell when they are bad, which is usually within a few days of expiration. Canned goods can, in some instances, last for decades if not dented or breached. Julian or code dated cans can usually be interpreted by a Google search.
