When Ross, Fritz, and Steve sat down in the office to discuss the agenda for that trip, Fritz and Steve told Ross that, in addition to two shows of usual size of about fifty to one hundred people each, that were not the "main focus" of the trip, the three men would also be having two different meetings about two different possible companies to purchase , which contained mostly natural gas. RFS was "prepared" to spend up to one hundred million dollars on said deals, whether one, or both.
Additionally, said companies, had "possible connections " in Canada, which would hypothetically enable RFS to expand into Canada again. When Ross poined out that if RFS expanded into Canada, said could cause complications, trouble or a lawsuit from John Fish, Fritz and Steve told Ross that John was in such trouble from not only partners in his past various business dealings, but, also, the Canadian Tax Department, that the idea of John involving himself in a lawsuit against former business partners, in a company John caused said company to lose a division of, due to John's solely corrupt behavior in said company, like what John did when he was head of the Canadian office of RFS, was, at best, a major long shot.
Ross sighed. "Okay, wow. So... maybe we have switched sides here . Both of you were always the "safe managers" while I was always "The long shot taker" Are things now the other way around?" Ross asked.
Steve chuckled. "Ross, Mister P and I both know that since you have been with us, you have never taken the risks which you used to take with RossShell before you turned the day to day operation of RossShell over to Vic. We also suspect that the way you are letting Vic basically "Run RossShell Vic's own way" as the now COO of the company, that, said actions, show that your methods have changed" Steve said.
I'll tell you guys what. Let's do the two shows, hopefully in one day. After that, we will all meet with whoever is involved with this possible re entry into Canada. I , Ross, promise, that I will join you silently, meet with whoever we have to,, let Steve do all of the talking, and contribute nothing, except, if we do pull something off, I will sign quietly on the dotted line:" Ross said, as the men laughed and banged fists.
Ross, Fritz and Steve planned their agenda for the meeting with the possible Canadian situation. The two shows with investors would both be the next day, and were little more than "routine" The following day, the three men would meet with two separate parties on the two possible Canadian deals, and then, after both meetings, the three partners, Ross, Fritz, and Steve would discuss their observations of both meetings amongst themselves, before deciding how and if to proceed, on one offer, both offers,. or neither offer.
The three men went to dinner that night, and then Ross was dropped off at the hotel. Ross went upstairs and called Kayley.
"Kale, two investor shows tomorrow, and then, the real fun begins. Fritz and Steve told me that John Fish is so tied up with his lawsuits from people, and also in major trouble with the Canadian Tax Department, that it would be safe for the three of us to expand into Canada again. Thus, we are going to take two separate meetings, on two separate possible Canadian sources of purchase of a company, a partnership, or energy. That is a wait and see" Ross said.
"Oooh how fun! Please just keep your head. Remember this is your one real job now. Vic has RossShell nice and under control" Kayley said.
"I know, teacher. Remember, I am not involved with the day to day operation of RossShell anymore. As I said to Vic before I came down here, my name just happens to be listed on the company, and on the door, as the CEO" Ross said, bidding Kayley good night, and trying to sleep.
The next morning, Ross awoke. Steve and Fritz picked Ross up. The three men had breakfast, and went to the field.
The foreman and Steve showed the fields and lectured to a total of two hundred people in both shows. One hundred people each for a morning, and afternoon show.
In total, one hundred people signed, fifty percent total, not bad. However, Ross, Fritz and Steve did not even concern themselves about that.
Another dinner for Ross, Fritz and Steve, that night.
After a good night's sleep for Ross, Steve and Fritz picked Ross up the following morning.
The three men went to the office.
That morning, they met with three men , who owned a Canadian company with basically two "divisions" in Toronto and Montreal. Said cost would be about one hundred million, negotiable, with possible cash outlay, and or possible financing. It was a straight out sell deal. Company is sold to RFS. Ross could not help but ask the question of would it make sense for RFS to keep two separate offices in Toronto and Montreal. Economically, employee wise, and such. The man who was currently the head of the company replied that said company, was a "Canadian Regional Company:" with clients in both Toronto and Montreal. Thus, keeping two offices would make sense, and, if it got closer to the point where it looked like a deal would actually be made and signed, all of the parties would get down to the "nitty gritty details" of the intake, outlay, and expenses of both offices.
After Ross, Fritz and Steve went out to lunch at a steak place, they returned to the office, where, that afternoon, they met with another party regarding a Canadian company. This company had an office Built and focused " in Toronto" with a "possible budding source in Montreal" Again Ross, Fritz and Steve took the information, and talked.
At dinner that night, Ross. Fritz and Steve, the information in hand, decided to cancel the third day's worth of meetings, so that Ross could get home the next morning. Unfortunately, Ross's stomach was causing him trouble again. Such was very unfortunate news. Ross would go home, rest, see Doctors if needed , and then Ross, Fritz and Steve could discuss all business, especially regarding the Canadian meetings on the phone, and then Ross would return again in two to four weeks.
There was a midnight flight from OKC to JFK The men agreed that Ross would take it, as he was able to complete the work he needed to do, but was feeling poorly.
Ross called Kayley, said that his work was done, and that he would be returning to New York on a flight taking off at midnight OKC time that night.
Ross was driven back to the hotel by Fritz and Steve, taken to the airport. Ross checked in, and boarded a plane that left OKC at 1215 am OKC time, 115 am New York time.
Ross changed in Dalas, flew to JFK, landed at JFK at 615 am. He entered an Uber, and rode home.
Ross "thought" that Kayley had work that day, but Ross forgot that she had a school holiday leading up to a brief vacation for the school.
As Ross quietly entered the bedroom, Kayley "appeared to be sleeping"
Ross undressed, and quietly slipped into bed.
Ross tried to rest his head on the pillow and close his eyes, but, Kayley was at him right away.
"You;re here? Fine! You know what! I really dont care what happened in OKC, how many investors you signed up,, or how much fun or not fun you had. I know what you are hiding from me. I'm lying here quietly, but I am going to get it out of you if it takes this whole fucking day!" Kayley snapped.
