Fallout 4 Mods

Hi All! Do any of you other Fallout 4 players use mods? And if so, could you answer a few
Questions I have?

First, I know you have to join Bethesda.net to get them, but my question is, Does it cost anything to join? I've been to the site and it doesn't say, so I'm guessing it's free, but thought
I would ask about it first.

Second, are the mods free? And if not, do you use the same money that you use to buy stuff
Off of the XBL store (I.e. XBL gift cards)

Right now I'm just plugging through vanilla Fallout 4 as I actually like this game compared to 3. Now, I don't know about Bethesda's actual arrangement, but I have seen the link in the game's menu. Now I could be wrong, but I think a good portion of mods are probably coming from this site http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/? and I think you might want to see about sticking them on a USB stick (hell I used to hear about players doing this to mod their games on 360). So, read up on it.

I think Bethesda would probably be giving a good portion of their mods away for free to encourage players to use their service vs downloading mods through Nexus, but that's just me. This whole business of console mods is really just coming from the PC gaming community, and I'm only recommending trying the mods on Nexus vs signing into a Bethesda account (I honestly am completely against it because I'm sick of the "Join our club!" mentality when I go stores to buy things, not subscriptions to buy things) because really, how much conversion could the files actually need on Xbone if you can use mods anyhow?

I've never played it on xbox, so I'm not sure what you have to do to get them like joining bethesda.net, but it's definitely all free whatever it is.

And, in reply to Dude, I'm against the mods too, as far as the cheating one's go. What I was thinking about doing was putting stuff in the game that should have been there from the start. I think I heard something about craftable ammo and craftable armor, and, since I would be doing a lot of crafting, I would need the one that makes crafting a non-EXP thing.

Once you get into it there's a lot to find that won't make you feel like you're cheating. Like you said, a lot of it is fans filling in where Bethesda left off, or quality of life stuff that just makes it easier to organize your inventory or track ingredients.

Yeah, I've been looking at the list of mods on Bethesda.net, and must say that there is a lot of them that
Look good to me.

I really like the one that lets you fast travel to your companion. (I lost Cait one time, and spent about 5
Hours looking for her)

I thought it was hilarious when official duck studios decided to do a play through with an automatic fatman. I thought the mod that let's you play as any dog in the game seemed interesting too. .

But generally I'm into total conversion mods with games. Or whole new weapon sets.
