Ross's cell phone flashing was from the foreman in one of the energy fields in the Alaskan Tundra. Such is why Ross considered it a "place he almost never heard from " because RFS owned fields in that state, that were "steady", but never did much else.
According to this text, there had been a "major strike" in Alaska, and the foreman needed to talk to one of the partners from RFS immediately.
Ross started out of the bedroom, but Kayley stirred. "Where are you going, sir?"
"To make a phone call, will be right back" Ross said.
Ross went into his den, sat down, and called.
"This is Ross, what is going on?"
"We hit a major strike, we need to have it evaluated, but it is mid to high nine to ten figures. (Anything from greater than five hundred million to a billion dollars or more likely) Any investors in this field are going to see the cash rolling in" the foreman said.
"Thank You for this information. I cant call Steve now because as you know its four hours later here in NY and three hours later in OKC then it is in Alaska. I will email him, talk to him ASAP, and call you back. You and your crew will be getting a huge bonus for this" Ross said.
"Thank You , Ross" The foreman said.
"No problem. Finish what you're doing and take your crew out for a big Alaskan King Crab dinner, and charge it to either the company or me" Ross said.
Ross started to type an email to Steve on the computer in the den, when the half nude Kayley appeared.
"Do I have cooties or something? Where the hell did you go, market boy?" Kayley snipped.
"That was the foreman of the Alaska field. They just hit a huge strike. Something between half a bil and a bil. E-mailing Steve, then will tell him I will talk to him later this morning, and will be back in bed" Ross said.
"You had better, or I will turn the light on, tie you up, and punish you for talking business at this hour. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, Market" Kayley snipped.
"You could at least have some decency by congratulating me, teacher! I cant control that it is four hours earlier in Alaska, and that late to us, is mid evening to them.
Let me finish this, and then I am all yours" Ross said.
"Fine! You better keep that promise or else!" Kayley clipped.
Ross finished the e-mail to Steve by saying. "Teacher is mad. Will call you in the morning. Have to go calm her down" Ross said to finish the email.
Ross had trouble sleeping. Partial excitement and partial being pissed off at Kayley for her reaction.
Steve texted him. "This is great news. Call me in the morning, and get away from her. Tell her we have to meet someone up here, since she does not seem to care about our Alaskan hit" Steve said.
Ross slept very little that night. Kayley got out of bed, looked at Ross cross eyed, and clipped. "Dont you go to work anymore? Why are you not out of bed?" She clipped.
Ross sighed. "Okay, teacher. That is enough! First I hit a major strike and you dont even say great, now you're on my ass to get out of bed, when you know RossShell is my company and nothing will happen to me if I go in an hour or two later, or dont go in at all. Maybe I want to take a car to AC. Maybe I want to go buy something. Maybe I dont want to deal with the bullshit of the office to sour my mood. Either please be nice or get off my case" Ross said.
Kayley sighed "I'm sorry, and congratulations on the strike. I know I acted like a real bitch, and you know I did not mean it" Kayley said, kissing Ross.
"That's better" Ross said.
"You really have to go to OKC or Toronto dont you?" Kayley said.
"I dont know yet. I have not had any detailed convos with Steve and or John yet. You know what happened with the show last time. Frankly after that, and with this, I could care less. I just want to talk to both of them, and then see the lay of the land" Ross said.
"Okay, I will get out of your hair. Will you be here when I get home?" Kayley said.
"Of course. If I go anywhere it wont be for a day or two. This put me in a much better mood than before, especially with the sparring with Harton, Tazzio shooting off, and the bad OKC trip the last time. I just want to digest this" and see as my Dad likes to say. If I decide to go to the office, which is unlikely, I will be home very early, and will text you when I know" Ross said.
"Okay, have a good day" Kayley said, kissing Ross.
Ross called the office. "Vic, its Ross. I have to take some very important calls on RFS that are best taken at home. This is urgent and cannot wait., I may be in later, or not at all today. I will keep you posted" Ross said.
"Okay , let me know" Vic said.
Around 1 pm, 9am in Alaska, Ross, John, Steve, and the Alaska foreman got on a conference call.
"All of you guys know that the crew has to do a complete evaluation of the depth and circumference of the strike before we can determine an exact amount or what this is worth. Basement would be five hundred mill, ceiling over a billion" The foreman said.
"Okay, please just do your usual work, get the needed people to evaluate, and keep us posted." Ross said.
"We will do. Will keep in touch every day" The foreman said.
"Ross, can you get up to Toronto, or down to OKC?" Steve and John asked.
"Reality? I've been having dizzy spells the last day or two, so I really should not fly right at this second. Let me see how this feels. We can do conference calls, solo phone calls, and emails until then. When I am able, I will do so ASAP" Ross said.
"Okay, we know that your health is top priority. Feel better soon" Steve said.
Ross spent that day, dizzy, in and out of bed. He ordered delivery Chinese food, and tried to rest and sleep.
For once Ross had to take care of himself.
While Ross felt fortunate that his problem was not a pounding, throbbing migraine, the dizzy spells and feeling like he would fall over were no picnic either.
Ross resolved to himself that if he did not feel better by the next day, he would call his boutique Doctor and either get a house call or have a car take Ross to the Doctor's office.
Ross ate his Chinese food, digested, and then was able to nap.
Luckily the phone was quiet.
About 4 pm, the barefoot Kayley slipped into the bedroom, and planted a light kiss on Ross's lips.
"How do you feel?" Kayley said quietly.
"Out of it" Ross said.
After such great news, it was not possible that Ross could be disturbed with bad news,. or was it?
Ross looked at his phone, and his phone was flashing,,and beeping "Again!"
What was it this time? Good news or bad news?
That would be seen.
