I could never really get into the standard "classic" christmas movies like Its A Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street. I have two favorites; National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Scrooged with Bill Murray......

Then of course theres The Nightmare Before Christmas......I guess that would be my favorite animated christmas movie....

As for TV Specials.....there will always be just one; How The Grinch Stole Christmas....(I will never forgive Jim Carrey for what he did with it in that god-awful movie)

Give me the old classic's anytime. It's a Wonderful Life, Holiday Inn, Miracle on 34th St. and the black and white version of Scrooge are my favorites.
As for TV Specials I would have to go along with How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Christmas Show's from both the Lawence Welk Show and the Andy William's Show.
Boris Karloff's lent his voice and talent so well in the part of the Grinch and the man who also was the voice of Tony the Tiger had the perfect singing voice for the song You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch and he sang it perfectly too.

Jean Sheaperd's A Christmas Story, and Scrooged with Bill have to top the list of favorite movies. I will say that although it was'nt a great film, The Grinch with Jim Carrey was about as close to a real life animation as you could get. Ron Howard did an excellent job with it in my opinion. The Santa Clause with Tim Allen was pretty good as well. But the first movie only, I was'nt all that thrilled when they brought out the sequel.

The Claymation Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer tops the list for TV classics. Yukon Cornelius never fails to make me laugh. 😀
Santa Clause is Coming to town is another favorite of mine as well, and of course the true animation classic. The Grinch. 🙂

The Return of the King. 😛 U know, it came out last christmas...dunno why, but I've watched the good scenes (meaning; fighting😛) like 7 times this past 2 weeks....

Now, lets be serious....well, I always just go to Cartoon Network if I want some cartoon christmas cheer....like the ed edd and eddy. 😛

As for movies, hmm......dunno, cant really decide, anything that falls in my hands. 😉

That man is Thurl Ravenscroft, a great voice man and singer. His voice is in many of the Disney animations (ex. the large cat who plays the double bass in the band on "The Aristocats).

My fav's would be the old TV specials. Mac Davis and Bing Crosby did the best ones, and it was always fun to see ones like "Perry Como's Old Fashioned Christmas in Tahiti" and such.

Also, you can;t miss with "The Homecoming," the pilot for "The Waltons."

A unique and moving take on the Christmas story is John Ford's film "Three Godfathers" from 1948. One of John Wayne's lesser known and underappreciated Westerns, it is crisply and wittily written with powerful performances from the Duke, Ward Bond, Harry Carey, Jr. and especially Pedro Armendariz. It tells of three bank robbers trying to escape justice across a blazing Arizona desert. They come upon a woman abandoned in a covered wagon who dies giving birth to a son. The bandits must then care for and carry with them the newborn baby as they try to reach water and safety.

(Viewable at any time of the year, by the way, not just Christmas.)

The original Grinch is surely up there on my list. I've always been partial to Ernest Saves Christmas, wacky as it sometimes is. Not that I watch TV or movies anymore...

as someone on this forum who is in the minoirty and do not celebrate xmas, the hollywood brother still gets stuck watching xmas stuff on the television every year. The hollywood brother's favorties are the grinch, the peanuts, the chevy chase xmas family movie and yes the old classic hollywood brother even likes the christmas story when the nerdy looking kid got his tounge stuck to the pole

*bump*

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is def. high on my list.

Im still waiting for Family Guy to make "Kiss Saves Santa". When they do it'll probably be my favorite. XP

I used to love this one. Still do. I used to identify strongly with the toys on Misfit Island.

Also, Mr. Magoo's version of "A Christmas Carol". Some of the songs in this one are just soooooo good, and so sad, considering it's a christmas story.

The one the child version of Scrooge sings how "I'm all alone in the world" always touches me.

And then later, when his girlfriend is breaking up with him, her song "Winter Was Warm".....that one gets to me too.

Winter was warm, summer soft that year
winter was warm, without a sign of frost
Like winter lost it's way that year

It seems as I recall
No blossoms fell that fall
May didn't leave at all

Or did love paint an illusion
now trees with a sigh
stand and shiver
while their dreams fall and die

and all my dreams are there
wrapped up somewhere in summer leaves
Oh what I'd give to be
to be in love again

This year the winter is cold
will it ever be warm
as it was then
