My favorite Holiday Song is "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses. I always found it to be a nice little new wave song, that summed up the spirit of the season with a nice story. It's also got wonderful horns. 🙂

It's a bit bittersweet for me to hear these days, Patty Donahue's death from cancer at such a young age makes the song more... haunting. But I still love it.

So what song do you folks like best, and why?

Oldie,

but so am I! "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" is my choice. Something about the imagery and mood it evokes is perfect for the season. Yeah, it also has the word tickling in it...lol..but it would still be my choice even without that verse! Q

White Christmas or Silent Night as done by Bing Crosby. Brings back all the happy Christmases growing up with mom and dad and the fireplace lit with the music playing. Dad had almost an entire collection of Bing's songs where one "album" consisted of 5 to 7 old records with one song on each side. He had many. Bing was always his favorite.🙂

Aahhh Yes! Bing Crosby's White Christmas!! Silent Night also by Bing Crosby! Gotta love thoses, I have others but those two are my favorite. Found memories of my Daddy sining those to us when I was a little girl🙂

Generally, I do not listen to Christmas music, however my favorite of those out there is either "I want a hippopotomaus for xmas" or "Jingle Bells." I like the first one because it is so silly, and Jingle Bells because it is a good song and I can make all the silly variations of it I want:devil: Hope everyone has a great holiday!!

There was another thread similar to this one, but since the Tzar started it, I'll reply. 😀

"Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" by Elmo and Patsy. Slightly twisted, but sweet nonetheless. 😛

"Christmas in Hollis" by Run-DMC. Holidays in the 'hood. 😉

Bob Rivers--no explanation needed.

Can you tell I'm not a traditionalist? Happy Holidays, Myriads. 🙂

I got with Venray and luv2bt&tickled, White Christmas and Silent night by Bing Crosby. Good memories with those two!

There are a couple of others I enjoy.🙂

Hmmmmmmmm.....wonder who put that first one in your head, eh??? LMAO! "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, Only a hippopotamus will do....don't want a doll or dinky tinker toy, I want a hippopotamus to play with an enjoy!" Oh great...now I am gonna have it stuck in my head again all night TONIGHT! Hehehe. I gotta go with Pawz on this one. Either "Hippo for Xmas" or "The 12 Pains of Xmas" (one goes out and they ALL go out!!". Fun fun....

Mimi 😀

If you guys love the hippo song so much, then I reccomend working at a toy store for the holidays, they will play it over and over and over and over until your head rots and explodes!!! Gyaaaaaaarghhhh!!! No more freakin' hippos!!!!!:sowrong: :sowrong: :sowrong:

ah...but hippos are nice. And while not endangered, I certainly wouldn't wish them any harm. Besides, anything beats the dead holiday music we play for clients while they're on hold. And after seeing so many yapping puppies, hissing cats, and a patridge...but I digress. I'd take a hippo any day of the week. But I'm sure you're glad the worst part is over...and you only have 320 days until you get to hear it all over again...but youo knew that already 🙂

Carol of the Bells by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

My favorite holiday song?
Auld Lang Syne
Why?

It's simple thoughts, full of the truth of the need to keep friends close. It reflects the past, and better yet, seems to hint at some hope for the future.

Not to mention, I really just love the music.

Joby
=====

Should old acquaintances be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld Lang syne,
We’ll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And there’s a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o' thine
And we’ll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang sine

For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld Lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

Loosely translated for those who don't know:

Should old acquaintances be forgotten, and never remembered
Should old acquaintance be forgotten, For old long ago

For old long ago, my dear, For old long ago
We will take a cup of kindness yet, For old long ago

And there is a hand my trust friend, And give me a hand of yours
And we will take of a good drink/toast, For old long ago

For old long ago, my dear, For old long ago
We will take a cup of kindness yet, For old long ago
