Hopefully.. a benign thread.

For those forum members who keep Ice Cream.. or even.. Frozen Yogurt.. I guess. in their homes, what is your favorite brand of ice cream?

I pose this question, because of something that happened this week.

Normally, I buy one of two brands of ice cream. Either Key Food, the brand of the market I shop in. (Pretty good, and cheap). or.. Turkey Hill. the brand I got used to during my thirteen years in Lancaster. A major brand that is from Lancaster, and, also..,. pretty good.

The other day, when I went food shopping.. I saw Friendly's Ice Cream on sale. Neopolitan, and some other flavor I don't remember. I bought two pints of the Neopolitan, as it was two for the price of one, and simply put.. the ice cream.. in my opinion, was horrible. It was fresh, because the date was months from now. However, it had such a bad aftertaste, that I had to throw it out.

I got so fed up, that tonight when I went shopping, I decided to buy two small pints of Breyer's One peach frozen yogurt, which I have tried, and I know is good, and also their strawberry ice cream, which I hadn't yet tried, and was also delicious.

I'm never buying Friendly's home brand ice cream again.

So, that's the question, favorite brand of ice cream to buy for home?

We have United Dairy Farmer's here - they have a Homemade brand ice cream which has many great flavors. And we have Graeter's ice cream - which Oprah has voted their butter pecan her all time fave. Of course, Ben and Jerry's or Haagen Dazs are always great choices. I agree, Breyer's is a good choice as is Edy's - ok, I'll stop! lol

Cold Stone Creamery
Eat some there and bring some home. 😀

Never heard of United Dairy Farmers or Purity.

We had a Cold Stone Creamery when I lived in Lancaster. I'm sorry to say, I wasn't a fan of their ice cream.

When I was in WA I really liked the Snoqualmie brand, mostly for their green tea and cinnamon honey flavors. Sadly I was unable to try their pumpkin flavor, because it was always sold out. I also like Dreyer's (aka Edy's), mostly for their pumpkin spice and Spumoni flavors.

I've found CSC to not be worth the trip. More to me like house-brand supermarket ice cream than ice cream parlor ice cream.

Purity is a regional brand that's been around for about 80 years. They actually beat out a now-defunct Ben & Jerry's!

Oh, did I mention that around Cortland, NY there's a soft ice cream emporium called "Footie's Freeze"? For real!

I gotta try that :numberone: I usually really like Friendly's but never tried the Neopolitan so maybe it was the flavor? :xlime: I also usually like generic or supermarket brands but not all.. Breyer's is at least all natural!! Though their boxes have gotten a lot smaller :disgust:

Right then! I'll just be the odd foreigner and say Lejonet & Björnen, if for no other reason than their "ecological chocolate" flavor, approved by our national affiliate of the IFOAM.

It just doesn't get more stereotypically Swedish than that unless they only sold it on IKEA, and what can I say, I am a flag-hugging patriot!
:sweden: 😛

I do enjoy the Turkey Hill brand of ice cream. It is more expensive than other brands,so I do not eat a whole lot of it.

Haagen Dazs

Peanut Butter Burst

They don't make it any more 🙁

Yeah, the white kind of mint chip. The green kind tastes like Crest!

This is interesting... what makes it "ecological" - I tend to think of recycled things... :eeew:

when i was little i liked the "superman" flavor, which is actually a sherbert, not ice cream. nowadays ice cream gives me explosive diarrhea, so i don't eat as much. cookie dough, heath bar and moose tracks are pretty good. ben and jerry's has a flavor out called "late night snack". it's purty good.
