Hey, does anyone know how to change the file type once you've tried opening it with another program?

I tried opening an 002 Hacha file in DIVX and then an 001 file in WM and now Hacha Joiner doesn't recognize them as Hacha files.

I deleted them and re-DL'ed, but it still gives them an associated icon when I extract them.

Is there a way to change that crap back to its original (unknown) file type?

Hacha uses files numbered 0, 1, 2, etc. Try right-clicking on the file, then select "Open With" and choose Hacha. If there is an option box on the 0 file that says something like "Always use to open files of this type," make sure to check it before you open the file.

Files numbered 001, 002, etc. are normally associated with HJSplit, not Hacha. If you are trying to open files numbered 001, etc., please try HJSplit to see if that works. (One caveat: Ulead Photoimpact automatically associates with 001 files, so if you use Ulead, the 001 file will show the Ulead icon. This should not affect opening the file with HJSplit for joining.)

Best of luck,

Hi,

To change a file association (if you are using XP) do the following:

To modify an existing file type
Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Folder Options.
On the File Types tab, click the file type you want to change, and then click Advanced.
If necessary, modify the file type description, and click Change Icon to change the file type icon.
Under Actions, click the command you want to modify, and then click Edit, Remove, or Set Default. Click New to add a new command to the Actions list

Good Lookin Out

Hey, thanks, both of you for the info.

It was much easier than I thought, and I actually needed both replies, I think.

I thought Hacha and HJ Split were that same thing, and though I don't have XP (yet), I knew how to access the 'folder options' screen in Win'98. I just never knew that that's where you assign file associations.

Thanks.
