I have some files i want to covert to different formats.I was looking around on download.com and was wondering if the free stuff is ok to download, and what might be the easiest for someone still new to computers to use.Any suggestions?
Depends on what you want to convert, if you're looking for specific recommendations. In general, however, I've found that downloads off of CNET (Download.com) are usually okay. Just remember to read reviews, especially negative ones, before you download. If you still aren't sure, do a search on the program name. You might find praise or condemnation of it somewhere on the WWW.
The main concern i have is,when i start to download a program,i get a message that the publisher cannot be identified. One thing i am wanting to do is convert mp3 to wmv for instance, and e-mail files to a usable form for posting on the forum.
Mp3 to wmv? That's an odd conversion. WMV is more of an audio and video format; mp3 excels at delivering compressed audio files (And cannot handle video). I do know that mp3 isn't uploadable here but it would be much less of a hassle for you (Not to mention no downloading worries) if you just put each mp3 file in a zip folder. Windows XP can do that for you. Just right-click on any file (Works for all filetypes that I am aware of), go to "Send to" and select "Compressed (zipped) folder."
