Just worried about the situation there. I know there are a few of the regular TMFers who reside there.

Everyone hope for rain....Rain with NO WIND!

Joby..callin' on the spirit in the sky.

Actually I heard today that the wind helped hold the fire back...
Same type of thing happened near me in Jersey, not to that extent but still bad stuff.

I do hope everyone is alright. It's really terrible, I wish they could get this under control. It's going to leave a scar that will take many years to heal.

Personally, I'm praying for two or three days of a good steady soaking rain...and, of course, for the safety of all on the scene, homeowners and firefighters alike.

As for the person who started the fire...what I've heard so far sounds like it was an accident. But, he should at least get a hefty fine. It's time that they made an example of some of these guys (accident or not) so that others will think twice before being dumb enough to have open fires in areas like that. If there was a ban in effect at the time, then other charges should be filed...especially if anyone is injured or killed. Criminal negligence definitely comes to mind. Hmmm...30 years of public service out there in the woods? That would give him the chance to see just how long it takes the land to struggle back from his carelessness.

Just today the reports are that a forest service employee was arrested for starting the fire. She was reputedly burning letters from her ex and started the fire.

A little while back, the forest service was doing a controlled burn....disregarding weather service information....and started another forest fire.

Is there some kind of problem involved here?

fire on the mountain

I live here in Denver, and I can say, that the fires have gone down considerably, and it looks like minimal damage was caused, some burned homes, some evacuations, but I haven't heard yet of any fatalities; the air seems to be clearing of the smoke quite well. One of the fires was caused by a burning coal seem, other than that, I don't know what caused any of them, but we could definately still use the rain. I'm sure I speak for all of Colorado when I say we appreciate your concern... Thanks for the prayers🙂
