A British lesbian couple recently gave birth to the first online baby: They had ordered semen via internet for an artificial insemination. Here's the article:

Now we're a family! MNI is delighted to announce the birth of its first baby today. It is perhaps symbolic - for a service that refuses to discriminate against any women on grounds of sexuality or marital status - that the healthy 10 pounds 2 ounces baby boy was in fact successfully delivered to a married heterosexual couple from the south east of England. Mother and son are both healthy and doing well. The first such internet sperm baby born to a lesbian couple is due in a matter of weeks. MNI launched a year ago in July 2002 and now has over 5,500 anonymous male donors and over 3,000 female recipients registered. It is about to commence operations in Spain, Germany and Holland, with further births due throughout the summer.
ManNotIncluded.com founder John Gonzalez said:
“We are delighted at the fantastic news that the first baby has been born as a direct result of using our ground-breaking service. MNI is about giving all women the chance to have children without fear of prejudice or discrimination. Here’s to the birth of countless more MNI babies over the coming weeks and months.”
MNI's to accept Gay Donors MNI has become the UK’s first fertility organisation to accept gay donors. This development represents a change in MNI policy in response to rising demands from lesbian recipients for gay donors and aligns well with MNI’s staunch anti-discriminatory philosophy.
All MNI donors - regardless of sexuality - will continue to undergo rigorous testing (including HIV), and must sign assurances that they have never engaged in unsafe sexual activity. All MNI recipients wanting gay donors must also sign a disclaimer accepting any additional risks.
ManNotIncluded.com founder John Gonzalez said:
“We have listened to the demands of women coming to us for help and to the concerns of the wider LGB public. Unlike other fertility centres, we will not be discriminating against gay donors”.
In a further development, MNI has announced support for “known donors” – donors whose identity is known by the recipient. MNI will assist recipients with known donors in the processes of donor testing as well as insemination logistics – and unlike other fertility clinics MNI will not discriminate in the sexual preferences of the known donors. This new service will remain independent of MNI’s core business but will compliment the overall service offering.
Again, both recipients and their known donors must sign disclaimers accepting full liability for any potential future legal disputes over access, paternity or finance that may arise. MNI can also refer users to legal advisors who specialise in such matters.

MNI's first Lesbian Pregnancy MNI ManNotIncluded.com, the highly controversial sperm donor introduction service for Lesbians and Single women, has announced today its first pregnancy to a Lesbian couple from the North of England. Mother and partner are overjoyed not only with the news but also with the service and the way the process worked. The company is currently launching support groups through our own network of midwives. These groups are designed to help women from pre-conception to post-natal, and will be the first organisation offering this level of support.
“Our ethos is to provide help where there currently is none via a service that takes the risk out of home insemination conception. We have come a long way since our launch and continue to stride forward. The latest news only goes to underpin the resolve of my team and myself to make this service more widely available” said founder, John Gonzalez.
