Have any forum members had experience where, not because of needing to give a certain food up, for health or weight reasons, etc, but, where you used to like or love a certain food, and then for some reason, just lost interest in eating it?

I had loved pizza since my age of reason. New York residents may remember a famous pizza place that also served Italian food called Rocky Lee's on 52nd St in NYC. That is where I was introduced to pizza at a young age. In fact, my family had an apartment, and my dad's first apartment after the divorce, was right down the street from that place, but that's besides the point.

Since then, I had always loved pizza in any size, shape, or form, from summer camp, to school, college. They put a Sbarro's on the Adelphi campus in my last years there, which was the only decent food on campus, so I'd eat pizza many times a week.

In Lancaster, and even when I first came back to NY, I always ate a lot of pizza, both Dominos, and other kinds.

Lately.. for the past.. few months.. I've just lost interest in eating pizza. I still eat Chinese, Italian, I've had chicken parm, and pasta, and general food, chicken, burgers, Japanese, etc, but just no pizza. On the days I do stay home and order in, I eat Chinese.

I'm baffled as to why I just seem to have lost interest in pizza.

Has anyone else had this happen, where you just lost interest in a food you used to love?

As we grow older, tastes in many things (not just food) can change. Music, for instance. I almost never listen to classic 70's rock and roll, but that music will always have a special place in my heart and mind. And who knows, you may go back to enjoying pizza at some point. Could be you just need a break.

I used to eat bananas all the time. They taste pretty good as far as fruit goes and they're easy to eat / take with you. Suddenly, one day a little over a month ago, I ate a banana and within minutes I had to puke. I felt fine afterwards, so I just chalked it up to some weird, but nominal, digestive problem. Then, I ate one a few days later and the same thing happened. So, yeah, I haven't had a banana since. Banana flavored things and baked good with banana in them don't cause this problem. Pretty weird.

Mairead, sorry you had that problem with bananas.

Come to think of it.. I used to eat bananas too, every morning, for years. The last year, I've stopped eating them. Lancaster had some of the best fresh produce on the planet, but, the Key Food where I shop, has awful fruit. The closest produce market is a very long walk from here, so now I rarely, if ever, eat bananas.

Bug, I see your point about pizza for me.

I would have to say raspberries. Don't eat them as much anymore.

Sooooo,..

Now I feel.. a bit ashamed to have posted this thread.

I'm working tonight, on my exam prep of course. After eating a horrible lunch at Five Guys.. for whatever reason, I decided to order Dominos tonight. It's the first time I've had pizza, in.. forever.. Who knows when I'll have it again?

Pork and beef. Not a sudden turn off, but I eat them less/sparingly for years.

Years back,I loved eating chicken.Especially white meat. These days,I do not eat it a lot. When i do,it is dark meat. Now I am in the mood for some Brights fried chicken.

Fast food. I used to eat it 2-3 times a week. About 4 months ago I quit cold turkey. Don't even want it now.

I ordered another pizza tonight. I'm waiting for it. It's the first time since the 28th that I've had it. I'm struggling on one of the Aflac practice tests, and my AC is broken to boot, so I figured I'd stuff my face lol.

I used to like sushi but I've lost my taste for it. Just the sight of it turns me off now.

I loved spaghetti as a kid but in the last dew years find it far less satisfying. It fills me up too quickly and I always feel sluggish later

hmmmm I got sick after eating chipotle once, but it ended up being viral, not food related. still kinda turned me off due to association.

other than that, all i can think of are those candy circus peanuts. they didn't live up to their looks even when i was a kid, but it sure as hell didn't stop me from wanting them!

I used to eat chicken calzones all the time when i was younger and one day i got one and it made me sick. So i stopped eating them.

Okra. I went through this crazy okra phase a while ago. I was eating it 2-3 times a week. I'd never eaten it much prior...maybe a few times in my life. I started because I heard it was a good source of calcium and I was a vegan at the time (no more). I liked it, but then one day I was looking down at my plate and seeing how slimy it is and I just couldn't take another bite. I've not been able to stomach it since. 🙁

mustard. I use to eat it with everything, now i cant even stand the smell of it anymore
