Let me tell you something, folks...I know Dallas...I've been watching and hating the Cowboys with a purple passion for thirty five years...these people have grown ACCUSTOMED to seeing a big offense...Staubach to Drew Pearson, Calvin Hill, Aikman to Michael Irvin, Emmitt with eleven yards and a cloud of dust. Big, exciting, fast moving offense, always the name of the game in Dallas. And, rightly so. If you think Dallas fans will take kindly over an extended period of time for "try not to lose" and an avalanche of field goals and a prevent defense with five minutes to go, you're sadly mistaken.
Parcells will most likely do what he did elsewhere: leave when the system finally takes hold, for better or worse, and ultimately it will be a bigger mess to clean up than the mess was in the beginning. Jones signing him had desperation in its makeup, and the best Parcells will really do is apply a quick fix. 9-7 finishes, maybe a 10-6, a playoff appearance, and then, goodbye. The ball might fall your way a couple of times, and you'll get an underdog trip to someplace, but God it was better when Jimmy Johnson ran the show, right? I mean, then, you ruled the world.
Here's what you do, you go and get your kind of people, you draft well, you trade well, you plan. It worked in the past, why not now? Bill Parcells is a quick fix, leaving people as unfulfilled as when Dave Campo was there...watch my words.
