O.K. another "for musicians" topic. What´s your favourite key to improvise in? Mine is E-minor. I´m a guitarist - guitarists, bassists, pianists, please submit yours. Drummers are excluded this time.

Well, as a keyboardist, I can pretty much improvise in any key, without having to worry about open strings and such. But I am partial to F#m and Dm...just something about the sound.

On bass, it's anything in A, and I like to improvise on the basics with guitar...the old bluesy C,D or G.😎

Hm, don't have a favorite key, but like Dave2112, I'm a keyboardist.

As a vocalist, I stay in my range. 😉

A-flat minor

I'm a guitarist too, and I like to tune down a half-step. A is just right there in the middle of the fretboard. It gives me plenty of room to move around, while still letting me use open strings. G-flat minor is my second favorite.

If I'm alone though, I'll pick the guitar up and just start playing whereever my hand lands.
