I just read that former NYC mayor Ed Koch has passed away at age 88.
As New Yorkers and others who followed him are aware, Koch was a larger than life figure with a very dynamic personality.
I have a funny personal story about Mayor Koch. I.. sort of..met him once. My parents and I were in PJ Clarkes in Manhattan on the East Side in the early 80s I believe. Mayor Koch was sitting at a table eating with other people. We were with friends of my parents, and the guy who was with us, a VP of Sikorsky Aircraft at the time, literally squeezed past Koch's security, reached out,. and shook the mayor's hand. We then promptly got the hell out of there lol. I didnt talk to the mayor personally, as I couldnt have been more than 10 at the time. The guy who did this, Harvey,had a dynamic personality himself.
I always liked and admired Mayor Koch.
