@ Mistress Valerie- I agree with Shadow on this. Sub-forums are just a waste of time and energy and won't ultimately serve the purpose for which they were created. Its just beating around the bush.
See, we already have what we need- a general discussion forum. The problem is, people don't post new topics. People keep regurgitating the same old topics over and over again and post in the same threads. Thats in the general discussions and even the tickling ones, etc.
If people can't change suit in the tickling department, what makes them think general discussion will be any different?
Its not so much that we need more people, we just need the people we have to start talking about different things. This is still very much up to a handful of people. This site no longer has the advantage of saying its brand new and thats why people aren't so active. This site has had plenty of time to get it together. And I've only mentioned the TMF before because thats the kind of activity we need.
I myself don't even bother with this site anymore, save to update it with my art. Thats how boring this place is. And its always been this way, and nothing has changed. Now people are going to come in here and tell me nothing is wrong and this is just how TT is, well thats a fart in the wind. We all know it needs to be better, and no one save for a small handful are actually talking about it and considering some sort of action.
People have become complacent and lazy here. They've settled for less when we can be so much more.
I like Shadow's idea at the bottom there. Its not so wacky at all, it makes perfect sense and we should consider implimenting it.
Because I'm tired of people saying how shy people are, they don't think they'll matter, etc, and using that for an excuse for why this site has not grown in activity. Enough excuses, something needs to be done. These people can't possibly be that uncomfortable here if they joined in the first place.
We can't stop those that just want a free ride, but we can get some people to post. And I think we need to focus on that. Its sad to say it when we're talking about adults here (persumable adults), but it appears that some of us are going to have to take little baby steps.
If thats what its really going to take and its going to have to be dragged out like that, then fine. I'd rather have a timid poster to talk to than none at all. I refuse to believe the majority of people that don't post are that psychologically frightened.
You know what the real problem is? People just don't want to commit to this. Well, at least a fraction of us are going to have to, because this problem will just keep popping up over and over again, and there I'll be to say "I told you so."
Nobody wants that, I don't want that. Whats do difficult about talking? Surely theres plenty to talk about, ranging from current events, to music, to all sorts of things. We have the tools and the reasons to speak up, but we aren't doing it. This isn't one person's problem. Its our collective responsibility.
