I just had to see something... that honestly nearly made me sick. I had to take a dose of Pepto before I lost my dinner.

I'm referring to the remake of "The Day The Earth Stood Still."

This is quite possibly the most awful thing ever. There's a "rebellious stepson", Keanu Reaves, glassy energy spheres, suck, modern filmmaking, more suck, emo music, lack of theremin music, and other suckage.

Is there a certain reason why these halfass Hollywood cretins think that coming and jizzing 21st Century Suck all over everything is a great idea? Seriously... they've taken out all of the parallels between Klaatu and Jesus. They took out the famous "Klaatu Barata Nikto" out. Gort? I dunno. Not there? There's some other shitty robot called "The Totem".

I hate this film already. I don't want to hear a single person give me that tired, trite line about giving it a chance. Hollywood remakes no longer deserve a chance. They're guilty until proven innocent, shoot on site, worst case scenario hate-deserving suckfests.

Please... the day it comes out... let Gort walk into the theater and destroy the film.

Please?

Oh my god, Hollywood is about to fuck up my favortie old movie? I will nto have this shit! It shall be destroyed. For I am Gort, and I'm a Chargin My Lazah!!!!

But seriously, Hollywood is going to make me become an anorexic...they are messing up these films each and every time I fucking turn around. Classic movies are literally running and hiding in fear they will be remade, and be transfomred into the retarded offspring of brother on sister, and cousin on cousin sex....movie style that is. Black Gold...Texas Tea....The Beverly Hillbillies! *cue guitar melody*

That's why Hollywood needs fresh and new upcoming film makers and film directors with vision and balls that can make some fresh idea's or at least not hack and slash into the remake bowl again and again and again and remake classic movies like Hollywood is now doing.

Whatever happend to the days of Drive in movie theaters and good movies that weren't all remakes and there were no casts of rap stars and super models and paris hilton's? etc

*Fingers crossed for Hollywood for fresh directors and film makers to come onto the scene of movies*

I enjoy my movies. But come on Hollywood how many remakes after remakes are you going to make?

Keep the classics that are classics to people just that Classics and not a remake.

i think it's strange how alot of the best movies were made in the 50's..such as this one..no need for all that computer animated crap, or special effects..Gort was quite scary enough in his own right..and the music was sooo eerie...it's sacriledge to try and remake a classic.. and no one laugh...but i didn't figure out the Jesus comparison until the last time i watched the movie..which was hmm last fall...or sometime..and i said to myself..wow he is supposed to be like Jesus...ah...i'm a dummy that i am..

i will never see this remake..

same thing with Invasion of the Body Snatchers...it was made in the fifties, and very effectively done...then in the seventies it was remade, with icky slimy special effects, and that stupid sound they made when they were tattling on someone human..the only neato part of the remake was the original actor in a cameo..running up to the car yelling.."They are coming to get us, no one is safe, etc...."

the hollywood brother think there is a lack of great writers out there in hollywoodland right now. when they have no good ideas they redo a old one with more special effects and younger actors. sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

I love watching the MST3K rift on the movie. But remaking a terrible film like that...ugh. Thank goodness for video games.

Terrible? Saywut?!

No, the original is excellent. Just because it doesn't have flashy George Lucas VFX and modern "realistic" storytellng doesn't make it less than the perfect it already is.

The new one is awful by default.

The problem as I see it is, instead of remaking classics, Hollywood should be focusing on those neglected movies that, for whatever reason, didn't quite manage to achieve such status.

For instance, I'd probably jump at the chance to see any of these(see attached) redone for today's audiences:

Never saw it I may have to track it down someday

I have a bad feeling about this new one, but I'd be willing to give it a fair shake if I was dragged to the theater and bribed with free popcorn and soda.

Say, Zod, don't tell me you missed all of these, too?

I sure did They look like movies from the 1970's I was a wee lad during those days

I'll have to check out "The Hitchhikers" since it features one of my favorite of the Hee Haw Honeys, Misty Rowe....
