Work this out as you read. No cheating - don't skip ahead until you figure out the answer to each question as you come upon it. (I can usually figure out why these things work, but so far this one has eluded me.)

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have dinner out. (try for more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2

3. Add 5.

4. Multiply it by 50 - I'll wait while you get the calculator.

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1753.... If you haven't, add 1752..........

6.. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number ...

The first digit of this was your original number (How many times you wanted to eat out each week.)

The next two numbers are your age.

2003 IS THE ONLY YEAR THIS WILL WORK.

I saw this a couple years ago, except at the bottom it said "1998/2001 is the only year this will work" Havent seen one of these in awhile. I saw one that asked you to think of a color and a tool and if you thought of a red hammer you were normal (it said so at the end of the "test")

I always enjoy these, but I was wondering what the current year has to do with the answer we get?

It wasn't used in the calculations, was it? Or did I miss sumpin'...

Good stuff, yo.

Cheers.😀

here is how it works

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have dinner out. (try for more than once but less than 10)

Call the number that you selected x

2. Multiply this number by 2

Now you have 2x

3. Add 5.

Now you have 2x+5

4. Multiply it by 50 - I'll wait while you get the calculator.

Now you have 100x+250

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1753.... If you haven't, add 1752..........

a) Case in which you've already had your birthday--
Now you have 100x+2003

b) Case in which you haven't already had your birthday--
Now you have 100x+2002

6.. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
Call the year you were born y

a) Now you have 100x+(2003-y). Note that 2003-y is your age, so you have 100x+(your age). This will cause x to appear in the hundreds column, and your age in the tens and units columns. Exception noted below.

b) Now you have 100x+(2002-y). Note that 2002-y is your age (your age will become 2003-y when your birthday is reached), so you have 100x+(your age). This will cause x to appear in the hundreds column, and your age in the tens and units columns. Exception noted below.

Exception: Presuming that you follow instractions and picked a whole number between 1 and 9 to begin with, this will work if your age is 99 or less. But if you are 100 years old or more, it will not work.

Example of exception: A person aged 103 who wants to eat out 7 times per week with get 803 as his or her answer, 700 + 103, displaying neither 7 nor 103.

Glad that some people think that numbers are fun.😀

Thanks, Milagros. I should have been able to figure that out for myself. Either the pain from my knee is scrambling my brain, or the pain-killers are numbing it.

You da man, Milagros!
