I have replied to threads in the past but have never started one, so figured I might as well try. I was wondering how ticklers out there (or ticklees, for that matter) feel about the use of gags. I have never personally used them---I like the sound of laughing, or other verbal expressions, but I have seen them used in videos. I know there are several different kinds, such as cloth gags,tape gags, bit gags, ball gags, and most intriguing to me, the ring gag. These may or may not be comfortable to the ticklee, however, which is always the most important thing to consider. I was just looking for some thoughts or experiences some of you might have had and is it or is it not something worth experimenting with. Hope this generates some discussion. Thanks---c.s.

for me personally, I have never had that done to me or would I like it. Something just doesn't seem right about it, seems cruel. And besides why would they want to, they would miss the laughter!😕

Hi,

You'll hear many people say that they don't like gags because you can't hear the laughter, but in my experience that's simply not true. If anything, often it's even louder because the ticklee feels much more helpless and desperate (same reason I like blindfolds). I absolutely adore wearing a gag, and my regular tickler is a genius at using it to his advantage-gags raise teasing to a whole new level. Being asked if your toes itch and need scratching, or if your ribs need massaging, etc...can drive you nuts and really heighten the play if you can't really answer. Also, I've topped others using gags and I have to say that they can work wonders on someone who's holding back because they're afraid of being too loud or feeling embarrassed-they tend to really let go once the gag is in place

As for safety, the 'lee is given a scarf or small ball to hold, and all play stops if the item drops. And it should always be loose and comfy.

I never used gags, myself. In my opinion, it defeats the purpose of hearing the laughter.

I don't know of many people who would be willing to be gagged anyway (out of safety reasons).

I don't like gags, but if people want to use them, that's their business. I'd rather see the 'lee laughing with her mouth wide open! Just my preference. 🙂

I can understand why one who enjoys the open-mouth visual would dislike gags on video, but I never hear ticklers who actually have experience with gags say that they didn't enjoy the play. They tend to assume they wouldn't like it, but once they've tried it they usually fall in love with how the laughter sounds when it's just as loud but slightly muffled, which is all a gag does. You also get these frantic little sounds that you can only get with a gag that are truly priceless. As for safety, I wouldn't use a simple cloth and never tape; gags designed specifically for adult play work best. My favorites are the spongy ball-type, and the bit style-both are extremely comfortable and safe, and breathing is no harder than it should be during a decent tickling 😎

Gags are the kind of thing you have to try before you know about 'em 🙂

I have never used a gag during tickling. Most of the lers that I've played with, don't like them because they muffle the laughter. However I have used them during bdsm play. I've discovered I can't use a ball gag...they literally make me gag, and I can't breath. Cloth or bit gags are ok, and can be fun in the right situation.

Guess you can say you have some kind of "gag reflex" lol I can hear the "ooh, bad pun" groans already. lol (I have that kind of reflex too...if a dentist puts their hands or something else too far in my mouth, I gag.) I guess now I know I probably won't ever have someone use a ball gag on me.

so a gag would ruin the experience for me.
but if a person likes the "darker" side of tickling ie; the power trip, the control, the master/submissive aspect, then a gag will add to the experience.
to each his own i guess?

Gags can certainly be great for more control-oriented play, as is bondage; many people who prefer the sexy/playful side of tickling still love being tied, and they also love the experience of a gag. The alternate types of squeals and laughter are just a different kind of music 😎 Again, it's something you *really* need to experience first-hand before you know what it's about, I didn't get it either until that first time; then I was hooked

I have the same reaction at the dentist, so, no, you probably don't want to try a ball gag.

Outside of the tickling community, I am also big into the bondage community as well. So, my feeling on gags is a bit biased. Tickling a bound victim...I mean PARTNER...yeah, that's it...is about control to me. I love using gags, and with certain people, it's an absolute must if you want to keep all the glass in the place intact!

I love not only the silencing and teasing qualities of a good gag, but simply the look of them. I guess it's a matter of personal preference. I often go from gagless bondage to a complete gag during the same session.

For the most part, I never use gags when tickling or being tickled for that matter.
I want to hear every laugh,every beg and plea for mercy and every decible of hysteria out of my ticklee(victim ) and I am sure the tickler(s) want to hear the same from me.

Sometimes unfortunatly, the victim is beyond loud. Screaming for mercy or screaming laughter, a slight muffling may become necessary.

A rag or rolled up ace bandage then comes into play.
Nothing uncomfortable or scary.

I've never been gagged but the idea doesn't appeal to me. When I'm under the fingers, I need to take in great amounts of air to laugh with. I don't want anything interfering with that process.

Very good point Drew, I am the same way when I am the ticklee.
As the tickler, I leave it totally up to the leee.
