Gail Kim: WWE Women's Champion

Before I get started I want everyone to know that I know wrestling is a show, a work, a form of Ilutional violence. That being said I still don't think Gail Kim should be the WWE Women's Champ. To win the title the way she did, in a battle royal, was totaly stupid. I understand that Jazz was hurt, and had to take time of for an injury, so they had to put the belt on someone. Why not Molly Holly, she han't held the title in a long time. Why not have her eliminate Gail last, with her puting up a heroic effort, then have Austin declai Gail the #1 contender for the belt, then have her win it at a PPV.

If I were any other female in the WWE I would be pissed that they put the belt on this green dame, and would be considering going to the NWA/TNA when my contract is up.

I think they gave her the belt too quickly. However, let's face it. There really isn't a lot of true competition amoung the ladies. Half of them can't wrestle to begin with. The women have generally been around more for show than anything else. Don't believe me? When was the last time you saw the guys in a panty match...or a spanking match. The women have generally been used to tittilate, not to wrestle. Now that they're moving towards a bit of true wrestling again, I think we'll continue to see some growing pains. Gail taking the belt so quickly is an example of that. I think Jazz would have lost the belt either way. But, I do hope that the throat injury she recieved from that kick heals quickly. Her character is fun to hate. 😉

I heard Jazz dislocted her shoulder. As a counter point, when was the last time you saw a Braw and Panties match on RAW or a Pattle match. All of the women in that Battle Royle are damb good wrestlers. Jazz Jaqueline, Molly Holly, Victoria, Ivory, Trish Stratus, and even Gail Kim are great in ring performers. My choice woul;d have been to put the strap on Molly, I just learned that she has never held the women's title and she is one of the better in ring performers.

Hogan didn't get fired. He took his ball and went home because he felt he wasn't being pushed enough. Good riddance.

As for Gail Kim, I don't mind her getting the title. The women's division needs something fresh after endless Trish vs. Victoria and Trish vs. Jazz matches, and pushing someone new might shake things up. I'd rather have seen Ivory or Molly get the title, but whatever works. (Incidentally, Molly has indeed been women's champion in the past. She was also hardcore champion at one point ... for about half an hour.)

Goldberg had an arm infection or something and could not wrestle. On the subject of the women's title, I think it is a mistake to put it on her so soon. I think it should have either went to Molly or Ivory at this point in time.

Gail Kim needs to start losing matches at this stage of her career since she's such a rookie. Don't want to see her with a continous winning streak when she's just starting out like someone else I know because......what.......what's that, Goldberg? You have something to add?:

I have been watching wrestling since I was about 5years old, & I think a wrestler male or female should pay there dews, like the old days. I don't think anyone as the right to win any title until they have proved themselfs.

Dunno. I'm just going by what JR said on the next show.

As for the "quality" of wrestling...I'll just agree to disagree. Though some of the women actually have some athletic ability, most IMO don't have enough wrestling ability to deserve ring time. Again, just my opinion.

Counter points

1) I am no Goldberg fan, but the WWE miss Used him from the get go. Goldberg's strengths are his power and intensity. Unfortunetly he isn't good in matches that are longer then 5 moinuets.

2) If the women aren't that good, then howcome they are having the best matches on RAW. Gail v.s. Molly stolled the show this past Monday. The Cristian/Booker T match might have, if hey had just let Booker beats him clean.

and finally
3)How do you get better in the ring with out... well.. getting in to the ring. I once read, "A sword can ownly be sharpened to a point then it becomes dull again.", meaning you can keep the women in Ohio Vally Wrestling for so long, eventualy thay have to test there stuff on RAW.

Obviously, we aren't going to agree on this. And, ya know what? That's okay! You have your opinion and I have mine. They don't have to be the same. However, I will give you the ring time issue. I should have said "tv time" or something, rather than ring time. Your point there is correct. Everyone else earns their keep and fights their way up to get tv time. I get the impression that the women, probably because there are fewer of them, don't have to do as much of that.

Bottom line for me? When a wrestler (be they male or female) fails to make things look at least somewhat convincing, they don't belong on the tv show. Let them do house shows to get their ring work in order. That goes for the older guys who are being brought back as well. Just my opinion. 😀

No argument with your points about Goldberg. Thing is, there are plenty of other wrestlers with power and intensity who also have enough variety in their movesets to not have to be held to less than 5 minutes ... and for me, watching no-sell, spear, jackhammer time after time gets old fast.

While I enjoy watching the better women's wrestlers -- Jazz, Victoria, Molly, and to some extent Trish -- they can't compare with the women over in Japan's joshi federations. If you really want to see good women's wrestling, get some tapes sometime.

Heck, if Vince will hire Ultimo Dragon, maybe he'll find the money to bring over Aja Kong, Kyoko Inoue, or Manami Toyota. Now that'd be something to see....

Don't hold your breath

If I amy of Japan's women wrestlers I wouldn't want to work for Vince McMahon, he has this big build up for Ultimo, and then they don't have him on TV his secound week, and on his 3rd week he loss's to Eddie Gerrero. Eddy is great, and I would like to see him with the US strap however Dragon shouldn't have been in that tourny, he should be trying to win the CruiserWeight title.

Your right Ann, you me, and alot of other people (who don't chant WE WANT PUPPIEs when trish is wrestling) will never agry on the women's divition. Could it be that because of there looks, you've decided most of them suck. The in ring performance of most of the women (forget about the women on SmackDown I know they suck) is better then what it was before. True there are no female Bret Hart's or Kert Angle's among them, but they do put on a prety good show, and realy try there best.

I've met the guys from the LAW (www.liveaudiowrestling.com) and they tend to nock Bryan Adams (aka Crush). Personaly I don't understand why, I've never heard of him hurting anyone, and as a big guy it's not realy his job to be a technition. I feel that this is alot like how some people feel about the women's divition, They work there ass's off, and have damb good matches. They arn't going to do all the same stuff as the men, being that they don't get payed the sam why should they.

That is my last coment on the women's Divition in the WWE (for this thread).

LOL Nope. Looks aren't an issue at all. They either put on a good show or they don't. In my view, most of them don't. That's all. The same is true for some of the guys. The only reason the gals came up is because this thread WAS about Gail Kimm.

Well Steve Austin hadn't wrestled a good match sence he hurt his Knee a few years. Unless he was in the ring with a Benoit or a Jericho. Well Those two guys could kerry a broom stick in a wrestling match, yet you have song the praises of Steve Austin many times. Same with Undertaker. "Taker can't do it all " HA.. taker can't do any of it, he just had a gimmick that couldn't miss.
