Gaim Messenger?

Has anyone here used the open-source Yahoo/AIM alternative IM called GAIM? Their home page is at http://gaim.sourceforge.net/about.php

I recently saw this software recommended at a security forum as being safer and better than the standard messengers. Since I have been having connection problems with both Yahoo and AIM, I would consider trying GAIM instead. (It connects to Yahoo and AIM services, but uses its own software instead of the crappy Yahoo/AIM software.) I would love to hear any experiences people here have had with it, good or bad.

I've used it and I like it pretty well (much better than AIM or Yahoo), though I prefer Trillian myself.
