Oddly, we did attempt to organize one, in Santa Cruz, half a decade ago. No interest in it at that time. Got some interest, a few years later, in a party-at-the-beach concept renting a cottage, but it never came through.
It's one of those if-you-build-it deals. Right now, there's only activity in Sacramento area events. If someone hosted something, whether munch or gathering, near the coast, I suspect you'd get attendees. There's some cool folk out there who just don't want to organize. It takes effort, patience and time. Each are precious, when ya get right down to it.
